you're not being a pain.

But sadly there is no simply way to bring everything back to the way it was. I mean you could use backup utilities such as Sprite backup or SPB Backup but I don't recommend it because will also backup your registry and when you reload the backup, it will reload the registry which will not be identical to the current stage of your phone thus possibly give you crashes.

About saving a file in Microsoft Word and that prompting you about formatting doesn't really ring a bell to me. I've had a PPC6700 and now a 6800 for a long time now and have never seen anything like that. I'll try to look around some more.

It seems like your OS is getting corrupted more and more as you use your PPC. We can keep troubleshooting but honestly, you best bet is to reflash your drive and then customize it the way you want (or how you have it right now...although, I wouldn't recommend it since something you installed or did caused the OS to start corrupting). That way you have a fresh start without the issue of this problem coming up again...its a little tedeous but a better option.

If you want to troubleshoot further, connect your PPC with your PC and then look at the Add/Remove program option in ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center (if you have Vista) and see if you see your installed programs there...they should have a check next to them. Again, we're gonna' come down to your OS being corrupted thus a reflash would be in order.

Let me know...

EDIT: I don't know what I was thinking....you don't need to reflash...just a hard reset will erase everything and default it back to factory (if you have the stock ROM).

Just a thought, but did you open the file before you attempted to delete it? My girlfriend couldn't delete a video the other day, because she viewed it, then "closed" WMP. It still has permission over the file as long as it runs in the background. Something simple that may have been over looked. If not, good luck.

Thanks for that tip ls3mach....that is something that could easily be overlooked.

If that is the case then a simple soft reset should help...that will obvously close all programs and restart the PPC, thus releasing hold over a given file.

Yeah, I just told her to close WMP and then it worked for her. I would've done it for her and gave her hell about not knowing how to delete a file, but she asked me via text while she was at work.
