xv6800: Why this shell for VZW?

Really retro-blah. The oddest part surprisingly is its not even black.



Was this the design made before the Mogul we know of now that Sprint has?:




IMHO the xv6700 that came before it, looked a tad better than the Sprint offering with the only real cosmetic change being the color (Black) but this time, I looked in my local VZW store to finally eye it in person a couple of weeks ago.

I was expecting to see a black & red version of the Mogul but it was a completely different shell & it did not share any VZ theme at all. IMHO fugly.

My thoughts/opinion on the look aside, my real question is why did VZW choose this design shell over the Mogul's shell? Is it the 1st design of the Titan or was it designed this way to Verizon's request? Sure its a business phone but even the vx6700 didn't stray from the theme.
