Id try all issues out before going back to Palm, lol.... I went from a PPC6700 to a Treo 700wx out of curiosity and then paid 200 for a USED 6800 to get the hell out of Palm land!

Switch if you want but personally, "id rather have a sister in the whore house...." lol

Hey fellas its kinda off the subject but i also run the DCD 1.67 and am very pleased with it.
BUT i turned my phone off 4 days ago to take out my memory card to let a friend use it, and when i tried to turn my phone back on it would stay at the "HTC" mobility something screen and not boot completely back up/ I did a softreset/ popped battery out and put back in/ i even did a hard reset and still would not go past the HTC screen even though the hard reset went well/
when i say turn my phone off i mean by holding down the power button for like 10 seconds, then a message appears and asks u if thats what u want to do/
I even reinstalled the DCD 1.67 thinking that that would diffinetly fix the problem, but NOPE it didnt.
OK i started to panic and out of desperation I loaded the colonels ROM/ IT loaded ok and i was back in business, so i reloaded the DCD167 and everything was ok.
But i had to see if it was a fluke or a glich, well when i powered my phone off yesterday it did it again, wouldnt boot past that screen , so moral of this story is becareful and if anyone is brave enough that is using DCD167 to power it off and let me know if they had the same results
thanks for your time

I have both the 6800 and the treo 755 for just that reason. both of the phones are on shared minutes, so the treo only cost me 10.00 a month. i did this because I started out with the first 6600 when they first came out, and i got tired of the phone freezing on me, and this was long before i knew of ppcgeeks.com. so i've always had two phones, one for mainly talking, and the other for texting and everything else. this just really works better for me, because of the fact that the 6800 basically being a handheld computer, it tends to freeze whenever it's not enough memory or to many programs are open. but with the treo palms, it seems to me that only one program normally run at one time, which makes it a better, more dependable phone for talking. it's just to slow for anything else besides talking. i definitely would not trade my 6800 for a treo palm. you would be better off doing like i did and adding a treo to your lline as a shared phone. since its just me using the two phones, it really doesn't matter if its on a shared plan. plus, if you add a treo, you can get it at the low new customer price.

i dont know about anybody else, but I have been having a lot of these issues when I'm in an EVDO area (mainly my house). while I am at VT, i dont have these issues cuz it's all 1X down in blacksburg. but when I am at home, i miss calls, and texts all the time, and it's really annoying, since that's the the primary mode of contact for my friends, and I've been having this problem since I got my phone. Now I am not sure if it's a signal issue in my house, cuz my mom's phone had issues with it not ringing when calling it. but then the same phone right next to hers works fine. (she had a sammy a840, and a m500 both with this problem), however i have other phones (a840, Q, a900, Muziq) that ring perfectly when called. I mean I changed the SCI when i got the phone back in June, and i did all those other tests before. I also put my phone in 1X only, because I have better 1X signal in my house than EVDO signal, but I still get texts quite late, I haven't tried an SCI of 0, but I figure it wouldnt hurt if I at least got all my calls/texts. But I have finally convinced sprint I had an issue, so I am supposed to get a replacement Mogul this week sometime, but I am going to be really annoyed if that does not work.

B) * setting a ringer that is on the storage card.
C) * too much crap running (no free memory)
D) * slot cycle index, change to 1

The last one is the fix, if all the others are not the problem

Test 1:
Call cell from home phone. Count rings you hear before your cell rings (if at all)
If no ring, Look at mogul... if it says 1X and the arrows are solid, you're screwed. Move to an EVDO area, or try not to use data services. If not (A) move on...

Test 2:
Soft reset cell, try again. Better? Then (C) is likely the issue.

Test 3:
Set ringer to vibe only, try again... Better? Then (B) is likely the issue. Move ringer to internal memory, retest. Better? There you go.

Test 4:
If none of that helped, then you really really should change your SCI to 2 or 1, and then try again. Actually, you should change it no matter what

Best of luck.
1. my SCI is 0
2. im running dcd clean rom sprint version 1.67
3. i barely have nuttin running mostly the codyppc threaded sms and email
4. i use the stock riggers which is in the internal memory
5. my phone is always in a evdo area but when i recieve calls it goes to 1x

Yep. it has to switch to 1x to receive the call, that is normal... if it says 1X when you are not in a call, that (when data arrows are solid) is trouble.

so, when you call your mogul from your own landline, how many landline rings before the mogul rings?

So you hear it ring twice when you listen on the landline, and then it rings on the cell? That's very normal - what is the "missed call" effect? Do you get voice mails? Complaints from people that you never answer? Typically, it will need to ring 5 or more times before going to Voice Mail, so you should have at least 30-60 seconds to answer before it goes to VM.

If its never ringing at all, maybe it is a bad phone...

well the miss call effect is that when sumone calls it goes through without it ringing on the cell, sumtimes it goes straight to voicemail...

if its going straight to voicemail, the ONLY two ways that is possible are

(1) your cell is not talking to the tower because your phone is off or out of signal, or
(2) your cell is locked into a 1X data session that is active

(or the third way....)

(3) EVDO is set such that a voice call cannot break the active data session, which it should not be, at least on Sprint since sometime in late 2006

Setting aside all those, it might just be

(4) Your radio is not a happy camper, so to the tower it looks like 1 or 2

So, seriously, if people are going straight to voicemail, and to you the phone seems like its all happy with a good signal and not a 1X full time running data session, then its time to get that puppy swapped out for a working phone.
