I tipped my in the bath tub!!
It seemed like it took an hour to get the battery door off but I finally did in a few seconds. I blew a little compressed air (well, 100psi, lol) through the device as best I could but when I THOUGHT I had it dry I put the battery in and the screen had a couple dozen verticle shaded lines in it. But it seemed to work so I was somewhat relieved. So I took the battery immediatly back out and put the phone in my humidifier over night while I was asleep. To do that I just emptied the water bowl and put the phone in the lil water tray that the air travels over. Basically it just pulls a light breeze of air through the phone all night. The next morning the phone's screen was 100% and so was I!!!!!!!!!!

if your sprint i dont believe they will cover water damage tho...just from word of mouth and such thats what ive heard...
but what do i know....its sunday...football...and the wild turkey is hitting me....so i oculd be wrong =) |

If you have the insurance, I would be inclined to let it continue to dry through Christmas and take it to a Sprint shop on Wednesday and tell them you dropped it and leave it at that, because they don't need anymore details than that, and you're not lying to them.

not true...they will look inside and see that the strips are colored purple i believe from water damage. i think its purple but if theres an idication of water damage they wont replace it....thats sprint tho dont know if its alltel
|

yeah, sprint at least i know has a little sticker or something inside that changes color when it gets wet, adn that's the first thing they check
but it's $50 to replace w/insurance if you lose it or it gets wet if it works, i would keep it as a wifi toy and call it in as lost. they'll just flag the esn and you can never use it as a phone, don't even try, but you can still use it for wifi and as a pda. and if you don't have insurance on a $500 pda phone, well you must have more money than smarts |

As mentioned, blow the phone out with compressed air, batter removed, and I'd guess with the keyboard extended to get to all as much of the insides as possible.
Then submerge the phone in a bowl of rice (uncooked). The rice will draw the moisture out of the device. All bets are off as to whether the device will work or not. Depends on how long it has been sitting with water in it, how bad the water damage is, and if you tried to power it up with the water inside. As previously stated, insurance is your friend. Best of luck. |
