I think it is really, really helpful when someone who admits that their entire knowledge on the subject is "word of mouth" posts bad advice 6 times in the thread ...
If you have the Sprint Total Equipment Protection, the Sprint site says: Quote:
You MAY be able to get a Sprint store to replace it for you. They WILL be able to tell that it has water damage, so there is no reason to lie about that. Last edited by bakntyme; 12-24-2007 at 02:43 AM. |

I want to give some formal feedback here.
Repair Center policy will be to check for liquid damage. It is very rare after a liquid event to be able to remove all traces of liquid inside your device. Under current service plans the Repair Center is not allowed to replace liquid damage handsets. You will need to file an insurance claim and pay the deductible in order to get your handset replaced. If you do not have the Service/Insurance coverage you can ask/beg them to sell you a refurbished model as an exception at a discount. It will require escalation, be prepared to be patient "a penny saved is a penny earned". Its best if a user does not try to pass liquid damage off as something else, the technician will see the traces and know. Its best policy to be upfront, they will appreciate it. In all cases i advise, be patient, be persistent and above all be polite.

If you have insurance, make the claim they will cover liquid damage. If you take it to a Service Center they will know it got wet by the litmus paper on the inside. Fifty bucks and they will send you another one. You could also try drying it out with a hairdryer on lowest setting but its a fifty-fifty shot. Hopefully you might get lucky!!!
