i have a question that i know may sound stupid. but when u buy a gps device or add-on for phone. do you just have to pay for it or once you buy it you have to pay for a monthly fee. also i was wondering how does it work such as does it work on sprint network or just through bt. so if ur roaming will you still be able to use w/o being charged more.

The GPS is typically a one time cost. Additional things like maps from other countries, additional voices for the turn-by-turn directions (I got John Cleese from Monty Python for mine ), and the traffic service incur added charges.

I think the traffic is 40-60 per year, but for me it is worth it as I live in the NYC area. I didn't give it a second thought.

The TomTom that started the thread is paired via BT with your phone to connect out to the Internet to get updates for traffic and weather. Any charges are for data service, and I suggest the $15 Sprint Vision plan for your data needs. It eliminates (data charge) surprises on your bill.

The $15 Vision plan is alledgedly unlimited. I almost never roam, but I have never seen any additional data charges. It is all I need for my email, IM, and GPS traffic. It does not include texting, but I really use email more. My daughter has unlimited texting for another $15.
