Updating firmware with a mac?

Hello, new guy here.

I plan on getting a mogul later today and want to make sure I update the ROM before I start loading it up with programs and the like, but I have a Mac. Is there anyway for me to update the ROM without installing windows?

As far as I know - no. I have Parallels installed for this kind of thing and it works pretty well.

I can't wait until Android and/or a new/different iPhone so that I can get away from MS and their platform lock-in.

Mmm I am actually going to have to install Parallels again and install XP on the macbook. I have been trying to flash on Vista and I just can't get it to work.

Crap, I don't have a copy of XP anymore, I guess I'll have to install the ROM updater on my girlfriends laptop or something for now until I get windows *shudders* again...

Well I got it working on vista. I had to use the unlocker and then when it gets stuck in bootloader, update the rom. Not the way I pictured it being done. Thought I should be able to flash whenever now without doing that. Apparently not.

I had Vista for about a month and just couldn't take the interface, the bugs, and the slowness and went back to XP (in Parallels and bootcamp).

Vista is a huge disappointment. All those years and all that money for an inferior product to XP.

You MIGHT be able to do it with CodeWeavers Crossover Mac. It's a Mac app that lets you run Windows apps without Windows. I think it's basically a pretty version of Wine. Again, I'm not sure if this would work because I don't know how Crossover Mac interacts with ActiveSync and USB connected devices. Your best and safest bet would probably still be Boot Camp, Parallels, or VMware Fusion on an Intel Mac, or Microsoft Virtual PC if you're using a PPC based Mac.
