I believe if your connection shows up as "Sprint PCS" with #777 then you wouldn't need to do this step. I think, but not sure, that the "phone as modem" shows up on the old PPC-6700. You shouldnt have to do this, just follow the rest of the instructions and you should be fine. LATE, TWIN

Re: Tutorial: USB DUN with "Wireless Modem" app on HTC Mogul
This was an excellent post, the only suggestion I have would be to reorganize so that the order of steps in the summary matches the detailed order.
I got this working without any problems, except: I don't have Phone as Modem as an option so I had to use Sprint PCS. I was unable to remove the "Extension" from the registry although thats not related. It also seems to always want to install drivers (on my XP box) whenever I try to connect even though I already installed the drivers, and it works. The bad news is, its dog slow. The fastest upload speed I've gotten is a little under 100kbs, and the fastest download speed is a little over 300kbps, with an average speed of under 200. Latency varies from about 90 to 300 ms. The phone is as far from the computer as the USB cable will allow and I've tried multiple positions. The USB connection claims to be at 115.2kbps, I can adjust this up to 900kbps but it doesnt' seem to help. Anyone have any suggestions? |

Re: Tutorial: USB DUN with "Wireless Modem" app on HTC Mogul
I would check and see if your REV A settings is set to "enabled" You do this by using your dialer and pressing ##778# and enter your unlock code. If its enabled, set it to Disabled and try your connection once again. Hope this helps. Im sorry Im being vague on these instructions, its just that Im going by memory!!
EDIT ** I went and tried it. Press Dialer. Enter ##778# . click edit. Enter MSL Unlock code. Click on "View Info" and select Data Parameters. Make Sure Rev. A is Disabled. Follow Prompts. LATE, TWIN Last edited by medinatwin; 05-09-2008 at 01:58 PM. |

Re: Tutorial: USB DUN with "Wireless Modem" app on HTC Mogul
to further clarify twin's post:
the setting should actually say "disable" (this means it's enabled) if it says "enable" then change it to say "disable"

Open up your dialer, and dial in ##3282#
doesn't work for telus customers.... How do we do this step for the p4000 on the telus service? Quote:

You can also look at TalynOne's post #20 on this thread. He has a workaround for bypassing the EPST code. Hope that gets you to it. LATE, TWIN |

Re: Tutorial: USB DUN with "Wireless Modem" app on HTC Mogul
I combine some of all of the info I've found...
Did the three reg tricks found in the first post, as well as deleting the 'Extension' reg key from LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing. Seems to work just fine so far, thanks!

Forcing EVDO??
I've been using the Wmodem program for a couple weeks and the setup, etc...listed here worked great with no problems.
My problem is that my Mogul keeps using the painfully slow 1x connection in areas where EVDO is available. For example, I live near an interstate and always get EVDO here. If I drive out into the boonies and get a 1x connection and then come back here, it's still on 1x. There are two issues at hand here: 1.) The phone is not using the best available service 2.) If I shutdown Wmodem, the 1x connection immediately turns back to EVDO. How can I correct this problem? I don't mind if it uses a 1x connection if that's all there is, but there's definitely something else going on here. Evan |
