As others have noted, HTC is no longer listing the new ROM as the default recommended update for your Mogul:

http://www.htcamerica.net/support/mo...downloads.html

I've simply gone back to 2.09 with the added keyboard fix --- I had MUCH smoother operation with that ROM. Sprint really needs to learn two letters: QA. QA QA QA. They obviously didn't test this one enough before releasing it. Locks up on switching from roaming to non-roaming. Bluetooth deactivating randomly. dpad stops working after a while if Bluetooth is on and not paired.

I thought for a while about downgrading just the radio to prevent the freezes but decided to just go back to 2.09 since I had that backed up with SKTools (thankfully)...

Sprint, let us know when you release a WELL TESTED ROM for this thing that doesn't break as many things as it fixes.

And please, don't call me a "whiner" --- I am a software engineer, and this is simply poor software engineering process. Sprint isn't doing adequate testing. There's really no excuse.

Apparently there are two different American sites.

http://www.htcamerica.net/support/mo...downloads.html
2.09

http://www.america.htc.com/support/m...downloads.html
2.16

That is probably whats causing the confusion.

wifi turning on..

in addition to the frequent lockups..just sitting there and charging (or not charging), i have noticed that my phone OFTEN turns on its wi-fi radio even when the button is in the off position. Additionally, the "charge" icon does not change sometimes when the plug is removed..

im going back to 2.09

stinky!

So I hate to sound like an bragging jackass here, but I thought I'd chime in anyways. My phone works fine and I have WAY too much crap installed on it. No BT problems, Dpad hasn't cut out, had the WiFi issue once but I removed my home network and tried again and no problems since. Magic process maybe? Hopefully not cuz I'm kinda ashamed to admit how it happened... I upgraded the ROM the day it was released, made the mistake of doing a full restore knowing that it wouldn't work. ROM went back to 2.09 but radio stayed at 1.47 (I think). Watched the Rockies get slaughtered in the series (this was a key part of the process), hard reset, reinstalled the ROM, did a partial restore (everything except the system data) and then started loading back all my crap and did the registry edits.
Sorry for the long rambling post but I figured someone may ask what I did if they wanted to try to replicate. Maybe I'm just lucky (probably) but I firmly believe that watching the Rox get crushed was a key part of the process

Hey anybody see this on sprintusers???

I just got back from the sprint store after getting a replacement for my g/f's a900 and while there I picked the tech guy's brain a little.... this is what he told me:

Don't upgrade with the ROM from HTC's site!
Wait till the ROM is available from Sprint's site under downloads, b/c Sprint is planning to pack it with another radio version and some other bluetooth tweaks (volume control issue), and HTC jumped the gun with posting the ROM on their website.
Basically its a generic TyTN upgrade that was originally geared for GSM versions and they slapped it with the sprint splash screen to shut up the crowds that were calling them daily and tearing them a new one. Apparently since this phone is ONLY serviced by sprint, this is not considered to be an official rom upgrade until its available on sprint's site.

Can anyone working for SPCS confirm this at all?

Well, I can confirm that this is completely opposite of what HTC told me today in a lengthy phone call. The carriers work with Microsoft on each branded ROM. HTC plays absolutely no part in that at all. When a ROM is released, HTC hosts it for the carriers.

From a logic (not to mention legal) standpoint, there is no way in hell that any carrier would allow something that they themselves did not approve of to be released publicly, especially if it carried their brand in the software. Clearly, this ROM was branded Sprint, with the slick new startup screen.

It sounds like Sprint is trying to do damage control and shift the blame. I am sure a memo of some sort went out to all the stores, reps, and CSR people on this issue.
