I was reading about the 8525 and they said the internal anntina (sp?) was missing, is that the same with the Mogul? Can't we use agps in limited form if we can find a way to get it to interface?

It's not true. You can clearly see the GPS antenna there!

my buddy with a tilt just tried to activate his GPS and he has to pay $10 extra a month for it - I don't know if that means if it uses some sort of cell tower triangulation or that's just what his particular carrier has crippled his phone to do so he has to pay for the service... That being the case I wonder if Sprint will do something similar to the Mogul with the new ROM upgrade (my buddy is on AT&T) and force us to pay for GPS. Though as far as I know, Sprint does not offer a GPS activation product - my motorola Q9c has GPS out of the box for no fee at all.

Honestly though I don't think it's that big a deal - GPS eats up battery life on and adds weight. I'd rather just have a standalone GPS unit (I just ordered one in fact for my car) that I can pair with the mogul when running Tomtom or google maps. They're very cheap nowadays too (I got mine for $45 shipped) and I'm betting it helps performance having the GPS run on it's own processor.
