HTC Task manager button gone! how to bring it back?

After installing PhoneAlarm, my HTC task manager button (the thing in the upper right hand corner of the screen that lets me close apps) appears to be gone. I have it enabled in settings -> tasks -> button but it's gone! Any idea how to bring it back?

I have SPB Pocket Plus, which also has a task button, but it's not as good because unlike the HTC button, it appears not to have a way to act differently depending on whether the Today screen is up or not. That is, hitting it in Today brings up the list of running tasks, while hitting it in another app closes/minimizes the app. Or am I missing it and this can be done with the SPB button?

Start-->Settings-->All Settings-->System-->Task Manager.

Hit the "Button" Tab at the bottom. Select the check bx that says "Enable Quick Menu on Today Screen".

I had the same issue with mine and reinstalling did not help. I just switched to using Showcase taskmanger and it works great. A lot more finger friendly too.

Yeah i forgot about showcase taskmanager is a great option.

did that! everything is enabled (checked), but still no joy...

I had to diable SPB Mobile Shell to get mine back. I noticed you said you had it installed.

I have SPB Pocket Plus. Is that the same thing as Mobile Shell? I thought it was different. Also, I have the "Close Button" feature disabled in SPB.
