Stuck , Stuck in the 1X land.

Ok ..I just got off the phone with Verizon.. I wanted to return my phone but couldn't without losing my money because my activation was over 30days for my TP2 in which I exchanged for to get the imagio to get rid of a problem with the TP2 ..I guess you get one exchange from the activation date not the new phone exchange date. So They patched me to tech support level 2. I had been through this before... He told me they could send me a new (refurbed phone). I told him no thanks. I want you to give me a blackberry. He told me nope I used my exchange going from the TP2 to the imagio. . So i'm stuck with a phone that locks into 1X. I asked if Verizon notified HTC about the issue, he told me "NO", its not enough of a problem. So there you go. Does anyone have any work arounds?

yes, tried about everything...I think its a HTC issue. Many people with same problem.

Maybe a PRL issue? Were you an Alltel customer before? What does the PRL show for you in Settings Tab -> All Settings -> System -> Device Info? It's possible you can try to update your PRL by dialing *228 use option 2. Depending on your situation it's possible you may need to manually override the PRL as well to pick up different towers if you were Altel and need to get Verizon towers for example. And frankly, this may not even be the issue, but I hope it MAY be of some help.

Why are some of us stuck in 1X when we're in a 3G world? I live in a major metro area (solid red on Verizon's maps) and yet have only seen 3G flicker on a few times for a few seconds in my travels around my area. Is this a VZ problem or a problem with my Imagio?

One of the reasons I bought this phone is to get 3G. I don't like paying $30 a month and not getting it.

If you haven't tried it yet, I'd recommend reflashing the ROM, the installer is posted in the upgrades section. Apparently this has fixed problems for some people.

Also, have you tried reprogramming the phone? not updating it, but completely reprogramming it.

I'm not sure how you would go about completely reprogramming it. I have done the *228 options 1 and 2 and this does help bring it back into 3G.

I'll probally keep the phone and hope a fix is published. What pisses me off is Verizons lame service. Why is it they know of a issue and if its doesnt effect the masses they don't give a sh&t.

I actually had this problem after switching the phone into cdma only mode. After changing it back to Global it locks on to 3G most of the time. Check that setting and make sure you are on Global, and even if you are try toggling off then back on.

Funny thing...Verizon had me switch to CDMA only thinking that would fix the problem. It didn't.

same thing it was in the settings its in the manuel on how to change it theres two ways on doing it
