SO CLOSE.. HELP! flashing while tethered?

help a virgin flaher out.. ha that sounds dirty. im attempting to flash hardspl.. problem being that my pc gets internet access strictly from tethering with wmwifirouter.. so my huge dilema is: i create a wifi connection and my activesync disconnects . no combination of unpluggin usb, replugging usb, b*ttpluggin usb works. so whats a brotha to do? im starting to get the shakes from my lack of custom ROMage.
