so a faster CPU (and more battery drain!) and still a dearth of RAM will magically make the HD2 a world beater... on a terrible network?

come on lets get serious.

frustration with devices is from them being gimped, lacking enough RAM, software, and the carriers themselves.

HD2 doesn't really solve any of those issues.

and the "upgrade it to WinMo 7 smacks of the 512mb celeron 1.5Ghz laptops sold as "vista certified" a couple holidays ago. LOL

I have used them all and the ones I haven't my friends have used. Verizon is probably 10 times better than the next best. It's different technology. I had it explained to me once with a perfect analogy but I can't remember what they said. I have paid more "early termination fee's" than i have parking tickets. I travel all over the country. Trust me, if you switch you will regret it. I really can't believe that more people don't defend Verizon or talk about how superior they are. All as i read is bashing because of their software they force on us or what they do to lock phones. I don't care if i had to use a phone with one button to be on Verizon. Verizon is the best network PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!
I utterly agrees with wedgemoose in this. I've literally tried them all..I was with Sprint, Nextel, T-Mobile, Cingular, ATT and then Verizon and have never looked back. Verizon's coverage really surpasses all others and I have never had a single issue with customer service. they've always been very curteous and prompt with everything (unlike ATT who gave my husband's account to a collection agency EVEN THOUGH he was doing a 30 days trial and dragged his credit score WAYYY down because they said they took care of it and NEVER did!!) I've always had basic phones with verizon and have never had a data plan until my Imagio and I honestly did not care for the lack of functionalities as everything I really need in a phone was to be able to make a call and not have it dropped every other minute. Now that I do have my Imagio (after the nth hard reset to get it exactly the way I want), I LOVE IT!

The thing that i wonder is wheter or not the fact that we are forced to be on CDMA techionolgies is the reason why they can't use better phones(some of the nokia models and HTC). I sure hope that this changes when we go to 4G LTE. I have definitely considered switching networks and getting a better phone with the verizon mifi as my data(i know quite a few iphone users that have done this, b/c at&t's coverage is awful and trying to use EDGE is just laughable). I am waiting this out and hoping for a snapdragon very soon.
Dont get me wrong, i agree 100%. There phones are the worst (until the Imagio) and the software is rediculous. but i would rather suffer with that stuff than to have a great phone you can't use to the full potential. Why is it that nothing is ever perfect. Verizon says they don't focus on good phones so they can spend their money on the network. I guess that's a good enough defense but don't they make enough money off us that they can do both???? you just can't win!!!!! But once the Imagio has some ROM's cooked we should have the best of both worlds....

Re: htc hd

well they arent lying... I went to an LTE demo and they were bloating about how they have spent 4 million dollars on the technology already and its not even deployed. And wont be fully deployed until the end of 2013 or beginning of 2014 so how many more millions will they be spending...

And guess what when LTE rolls out our bills are going up

Thats "coverage" and what people have. I started off with cingular because I was young and poor and wanted the cheapest plan I could get. All my rich friends had verizon (they were rich because they could afford $10 more a month). I was envious of them from day one. Everywhere we went their Verizon phones always worked and mine would either have one bar or none. The specs that website give may be true (verizon doesn't have the "most"coverage") but I am telling you, Verizon has the best coverage from where I have been. Even the calls on AT&T wern't as clear. You need a good ear but you can tell. Everything works on Verizon, All the data and phone as a modem stuff. I also have a verizon "air card" for my computer and it has never been let down. It's hard to explain but trust me Verizon rules!!!!!! Do a call forward with your number and swap one of your friends other network phones for a week. You will be amazed. My Verizon phone doesn't have reception in my house and I still stick with it. AT&T does come in at my house and I would be able to eliminate my house phone but I still choose to pay for a landline rather than lose my Verizon cell. Thats how superior I know their network is....(it cost me $50 extra dollars a month and I still stay with them)....

DId you even read it???

"For starters, you'll see that no carrier claims to have a larger network based on actualgeographic coverage (except Alltel, see below)."

Re: htc hd

Yup, quickly. I was just elaborating on my earlier post. I could write a book about it. Cost me so much time and money to realize that Verizon rules that I get excited to talk about it. I didn't think that article was that great (for what we were talking about) so I gave more of my 2 cents. I follow about 4 to 5 people on this forum. Your one of them. everything you do is exactly what I like on my phone. So i need you here.....

That article is from 2006 so you can't really relate it to now.

Re: htc hd

just wanted to chime in that in MY AREA (everybody's experience will be different) sprint actually has better sound quality and much better data connectivity. I am constantly losing my data stream with vzw and phone calls are not as clear. there may be more coverage with vzw but the quality is not there.
