Re: SWYPE Keyboard coming to Android in 2010

its out! http://www.redmondpie.com/swype-keyb...droid-9140295/ I have it installed, now how do I disable the stock keyboard so I can try it out?

Edit: I tried seeing how it works in the tutorial and it doesn't work on the hero screen size, seems like only droid for now

yes its no good at all. also in the future if you have more than one keyboard in place you can switch buy going into any form that allows you to type and long press the trackball or screen until select input comes up and choose from there

Re: SWYPE Keyboard coming to Android in 2010

Just tried this on my HTC Touch that is running android on top of linux. (Still waiting for my hero in the mail.)

For using it on a phone with a dying touch screen, it was pretty decent. Can't wait to try it on hero's glass/fingerprint resistant screen ^_^.

Re: SWYPE Keyboard coming to Android in 2010

Wait, what is the difference between swype and shapewriter? They look the same to me, yet again I haven't installed either of them yet.

Similar items . minor tweaks. the real difference is availability. Shapewriter is available for the Hero where as Swype is not

Re: SWYPE Keyboard coming to Android in 2010

man, that is so wacky...

The app installed and was activated nice and easy...had one force close when trying to open the practice game from the settings menu, but it opened without a hitch from the Keyboard itself...and on that topic, the practice game (which is a competitive training game which forces ever quicker input) is a very nice addition on its own. one thing I have noticed that irks me is that words that are close together and on the same line in QWERTY (i.e. you) are rather difficult to draw. The app has to take a guess or two. This wouldn't be anything at all if the word was not so common and necessary to communication.

I have only used it for a few txts, so final judgement is out, but I am certainly having a good time with it, and it is effective, if not intuitive. whether or not i will pony up 9 bucks for it is another story.

This App has great potential. it needs some work as some of the things you 've mentioned have come as a slight obstacle , but its a cool idea. Yes 9 $ is a little steep
