HERO/sero: bunch of BS!

my brothers phone broke, an old razor.. so after being a sprint customer for 2 years (on the sero 500 plan) decided to upgrade (two year discount, and web discount) got the phone, and cannot activate it.. after 5 days of trying, some saying its possible, others saying not.. idecided to look into this for him. what a bunch of crap.. they do not allow the htc hero, the instinct, or the palm pre on the sero plan.. ok great... but WHY? really.. WHY?? i called and asked.. and talked to 5 different people.. all had horrible excuses (reasons).. because it requires the high speed data plan was one response, another was because the data plan is much more intricate(???)! wow...as far as i know there is only one data plan! my brother has it... why cant he use the hero on his sero plan? its a scam to get people out of their super deal contracts and scam more money from them! so, i told him to return it.. and get the htc touch pro or touch pro 2... he shouldnt have any issues with that (im just worried they will soon put all smart phones on the NOT ABLE TO WORK WITH SERO list...
can someone tell me why the hero cannot be used with the sero plan?

I hate to say it but... because Sprint says so. They are phasing out the old SERO plans and can do whatever they want. I also came from a SERO plan. But if you are on their network you have to play by their rules. Or you could switch to Verizon or ATT and pay even more.

Actually the SERO plans wee a gift through therte times of struggle. Now sprint has posted some gains. It could get worst as they are laying off 2,000 - 5,000 employees but this year

Be happy you had the SERO plan before. I am so tired of people on here complaining they cant get this phone or that phone on SERO. You were paying a very good price before. Its funny how people get a discount and when it gets taken away or changed they will complain about it. The amount of money you saved over those two years is a whole lot more than what you would have been spending on another carrier. New phones come out and have newer technology so they are more expensive for the company to carry. Im premier and on SERO 500 but im not gonna complain about getting a new plan to get the new cool phone. I have been with Sprint for over 12 years now and I dont mind they have been good with me and the plans are the best SERO or not.

Agreed... this is economics. They have a product. If you want it, you pay their price. If the price is too high, don't get it, or go somewhere else.

Yeah, bottom line is because they can. They're shifting people off of SERO thats really all there is to it. I was sad at first but as it has beens stated you just gotta be happy for what you had and what you were able to save. I got over it and upgraded, still much cheaper than other carriers and Sprint was more than willing to offer the new SERO whatever its called I cant remember the name right now which is still a great deal.

At the end of the day if you want the new phones you will have to switch eventually. I expect WinMo 7 to be the same ordeal.

Good job on getting that plan. Its a good one. Did they include any mobile to mobile. I have that and everyone I call basically has a cell phone so my minutes have decreased by about half now.
