That's probably a good indication that I need to just switch it out this weekend.

Not sure about any factory setting that can be changed/switched, but there is a program in Market called Spare Parts that has a function for that.

Spare Parts is excellent as well as several other Apps. Thank you for opening this forum. Also I was unaware of the units with different load ups(HTC or Google) I am interested to know the Manufacture dates on them. Also any other changes in Speed, processes etc ? Rooted Vs Non Rooted

This is interesting...info on the "with Google" branding and a code to get into Reverse Logistics to see the manufacture date. Mine's 6/10/2009, Evdo Rev A.

Without "Google" Branding and a Manufactures date of 4/0/2009. This was purchased from Best Buy on Nov 1.My original unit was purchased from Sprint Corp mid oct and Had a Google Branding with a later Manufacters date . Interested to see if the ones without Google Brand where sent to Best Buy originally. They had the Early Release date

Well I can confirm what you are saying. I had the 100% issue while using Handcent however I had used the stock message app for a while first. Last night I bit the bullet and wiped the phone then reinstalled and configured everything. I must say that compared to my Touch Pro doing a hard reset and reconfiguring the phone was nearly painless in comparison! But after everything was back as I had it before wiping the phone I immediately saw evidence of the phone sleeping. Then last night I plugged the phone into my laptop as usual and let it charge overnight. When I woke up the phone hadn't slept a bit...nearly 90% awake time. But as of this morning since I've taken it off the laptop it has been sleeping regularly having dropped to 83% in just a few hours. So there is some truth to this at least on some phones. I don't see an issue with this since it's charging anyways but I assume it could possibly prolong the charging time a bit.

@elefntkpr: I'm sure you see it, but your phone stayed awake while it was plugged in (to usb or outlet) and it looks like your phone was sleeping regularly after you unplugged it. I think this is a common occurrence, but is so stupid on the part of HTC. I've noticed that it takes forever for the phone to charge to change the indicator light from orange to green.

What would be great for the sake of this original posting, if your phone is still sleeping regularly (evidenced by a steady drop of %), do soft resets and see if your phone still sleeps regularly when sitting idle. What else happens with each soft-reset is the Total Awake and Sleep timer will refresh to zero.

If your phone is like mine, the soft-resets will trigger your phone to never sleep. Freaking Hero insomnia--My Hero is downloading a hidden methamphetamine widget from Market. If it doesn't happen, your phone is great and mine really needs to be exchanged. The Total Awake and Sleep timer are 100% and the timers are perfectly synced after plenty of soft-resets.

Your phone does not sleep when it's plugged into the USB port of the PC.
