I've used RUU's before on my Diamond many times without fail. I'm currently on Fresh 0.4

Can someone please help?

Edit: Also, i'm on windows 7 if that matters. Tried running as admin as well as compatibility mode. Don't know what to do now...
I got the same thing last night. I was running the new fresh rom. I basically just hard reset and that did the trick.

I did hard reset from the phone menu and from the bootloader screen. Which method did you use? The phone synced just fine with HTC Sync before I started using google. So I don't think its a usb issue, I believe the issue itself is with the actual program running on windows 7. But I don't know.

That could be the issue but, frankl, i doubt it. It did it to me like 10 times. I hard reset once and it didn't work, then i did a nandroid restore to before i had fresh rom and it worked swimmingly.

Re: Restore stock recovery img? (unroot)

I've been having the same problem with RUU. I have tried it with both Fresh 0.5d and MoDaCo 1.1 and still get stuck at Error 171.

I wiped from recovery mode and that seemed to work, even though I still got the "Fresh" boot splash and sound. The phone software version also said it was 1.29.651.2 (the updated version) after the wipe.

You have to flash back to stock with nandroid back-up, hard reset, then run RUU.

Re: Restore stock recovery img? (unroot)

So, those that didn't make a nandroid backup are stuck with the cool looking bootscreen, unless they flash another rom that will modify it?

Re: Restore stock recovery img? (unroot)

OK, I just got RUU to work after going back to MoDaCo 1.1. I'm starting over from scratch.

If you didn't make a nandroid backup you need to flash a stock rom, but I am not sure how that would happen without a version made up into a zip. Maybe someone could extract it from the RUU.
