voxHTC. Go back and try it again. Make sure you have spaces where spaces should be or it will bomb. If you have any doubts try it again with a space.

Re: internet tethering with sprint htc hero

I don't have a Hero, I'm looking to get one. I currently have a Sprint Mogul which I got 2 yrs ago, specifically because it would tether. My company purchased my phone and pays for my plan, and it is my company that needs me to tether. We are a small company, and I need to tether a laptop only 6 days a month, for my job. So, we didn't want to pay the extra $60 per month, on top of my phone plan, to have a wireless card.

So, speaking to the Sprint tethering situation in general. I still tether mine the 6 days a month I need to, and have had zero problems or complaints from sprint.

I was looking in this thread, because I want a Hero, but I also MUST keep the tethering function for my job. Every sprint person I talk to either on the phone or at a store always tells me "Any smart phone on the Sprint network can be tethered to a computer" However, I find different info on various forums.

Needs to be rooted but yes you can tether just like you can on the mogul. Only problem I have run into is that it makes the battery really hot with alot of constant use having it plugged into a charger. But the Mogul seemed to have the same problem when I had it too and was much slower as well. I usually have to let it cool off a bit every now and then to continue to use it. USB charging while tethering doesn't seem to work too well either. I get an error stating something like it doesn't have enough current to charge.

The AC adapter works better but like I said it tends to get hot. I sometimes take the back cover off to let it cool faster.

Re: internet tethering with sprint htc hero

I'm having no problem since I have rooted. I actually have the TP, Diamond, and Hero all set up for wifi sharing. The Hero seems to be the fastest as a wireless router.

Has anyone used 3G Watchdog to see their usage? If so, have you gone over the 5gb limit? and if so on that, have you gotten overage charges on your bill?
