Navigation and people do not load at startup for me. Just HTC sense. Maybe I tweaked my settings, somewhere.

Re: Close out apps

I wonder if we're all using the same task killer? (I'm using Advanced task killer)

I can kill all the tasks, but still receive texts.

I have determined, however, that this is the reason my email doesn't auto-update. That article explained a lot, but I still get a relatively large change in free-memory when I "kill selected apps".

Re: Close out apps

I'm using TaskPanel. I just close out a few apps at a time when I notice any sort of slow down on my phone. I know people say that Android manages the memory itself and you don't need a task manager, etc etc. But I can definitely notice a difference in my phone between running at 25mb avail memory and 55mb avail memory.

Re: Close out apps

DONT USE ADVANCED TASK KILLER!!! there is a thread on how this app kills the ability to reieve text messages all together. Use advanced task manager instead, pple state that it works fine. Myself, i stopped using task managers all together after that incident (factory reset and provision update later) and to my surpise my Hero runs just as snappy and smooth letting Android handle the memory management so i dont have to worry about that anymore

Re: Close out apps

use the free app off the market called" taskiller free" it will only close out apps, not system resources.

Actually, Android does have a task manager. On the Hero just hold the 'Home' key to get it to pop up.

That's not a task manager. It's a recent programs menu. It doesn't list what is open, or currently running.
