Re: How does it compair to the TP2?
I am baffled on the issue of playing videos. I have been watching Lexx on mine. No needed extra apps. They are WMV files from when I loaded them on my TP. I use the Astro File manager and then select the episode that I want. I found an issue with selecting videos on the Album site. It plays it right in the media player. Moved it to Full screen also.
As far as the Difference. I was going to get the TP2 and waited for this. I do miss my keyboard but besides that I love this phone. Even the Speaker phone blows away the TP. I don't have to use a stylus either is a bonus. Now there is times the screen does not recognize my touch but I had this issue with TP also. I would have loved to have the 3.7 screen especially without a physical keyboard. Faldiin |

Re: How does it compair to the TP2?
I have successfully used the standalone feature of the gps chip in the Vogue, Mogul, Touch Diamond and even the Touch Pro in the past. Granted, its takes forever to get a lock sometimes, but it does work. Havent tried it on the tp2 yet, but judging from past experiences and it being basically the same chip..id say it should work fine.

Cool. I checked the htc site but neither the tp2 or hero say they're gps or aGps, all they say is they have internal gps antenna |

Also, to the dude above... GPS locks are significantly faster on the Hero than on the Titan or Touch Pro. Pretty close to instant lock on cold start (~1-2 secs for the my location dot to appear in Google Maps), even in my apartment, and it's definitely a lock and not a mobile network or partial satellite estimation. No experience with TP2. Last edited by sklathill; 10-15-2009 at 10:46 AM. Reason: add gps lock stuff. |

Re: How does it compair to the TP2?
I just got done using the Touch Pro 2 for a month and sent it back to try out the Hero. In one sentence: I'm glad I did.
I really liked the TP2, but I like the Hero even more. I would say Android is just as, if not more so, stable than the TP2. I've only used the Hero for 3 days now but I haven't had it lock, or freeze, or slow down enough to where I had to restart it. Its hard to comment on the functionality because it depends what apps you use on WinMo and if they're available on Android. The exact same app might not be available but I'm sure there are other options to completing the same task. And thats what it comes down to, being able to adjust to completing tasks in a slightly different manner. The web browser is great, as good as anything available for WinMo, imo. Email is very good, GMail integration is top notch. Everything you can do on a computer with Gmail is available on the phone. The only thing I've seen people have a problem with is downloading attachments. One way I've got around this is setting up my yahoo account and when I need to download an attachment from an email I get from Gmail I just forward it to my yahoo and download it through that account. Kind of a hassle, but it works and I don't download attachments very often. One thing I have to comment on is the software keyboard on the Hero. ITS AWESOME! I haven't missed the huge kb on the TP2 at all since I've sent it back.
