Well Android is a bit different, HTC devices must be "rooted" in order to flash a custom rom. Try checking out some android forums you'll definitely find more help there. But to my knowledge the Sprint HTC hero hasn't been rooted just yet.

Yup, that's what I'm doing. i think, nonetheless, I will end up getting the Hero over the TP2 since so many people are reporting that the TP is better in terms of stability. I wonder if Mighty, Juicy or NRG will be making ROMs for Hero. They seem very committed to the Touch Pro and Touch Pro 2.

I came from windows mobile myself...from ppc6700 to mogul to touchpro...i was debating between the tp2 or hero...but went with hero because winmo is laggy and no cool apps like iphone and hero...ive been with winmo since day1 bcuz im a windows guy, bit id have to say android kills winmo.... i kno someone will be coming with custom roms shortly... maybe mightyrom will go android
