Re: Sprint Hero and Donut 1.6

some say yes some some say no, seems what we can settle on is there is an upgrade you can install from the computer or go to the sprint store and they install it for you but there isn't an OTA update yet

Yep, if you check the official sprint forum as well as one I created here I can confirm that 2 different Hero's both have the impedance issue. If you pull out the headphone slightly to where the icon switches to a headset with a MIC thats what I am assuming that is indeed stereo.

Re: Sprint Hero and Donut 1.6

So this upgrade is accessible/compatible with the Hero? If so I'm updating when I get home in a few and i'll report back how it goes. I'll take the plunge first lol

Going to test now. I got my hero at BB and it didn't come with headphones. Darren did your hero come with stock buds?

Re: Sprint Hero and Donut 1.6

All of you worried about bricking your phone, getting charged for the upgrade and what not. Just be patient, Sprint WILL have OTA update for 1.6 (Donut). Disregard the threads/blogs/sites that say Sprint is not capable of OTA for the Android. Look at the Palm Pre updates they are well over 80MB and sprint has no problems pushing those out.

I believe the real reason why they are holding back is because HTC's Sense UI and all other other applications that are packaged with the Hero, they all need to be tested with 1.6 to make sure the code is compatible.

It will come soon, patience is a virtue

Re: Sprint Hero and Donut 1.6

The main problem is that they had to take the CDMA compatibility from 1.6 and add it to 1.5 in order to release the phone on schedule. They (SPRINT) never had the time to test all of their other in house applications with 1.6, so they were stuck and opted to just release 1.5. I am sure before Xmas there will be a 1.6 update available. The Palm Pre does large OTA's and I am sure this update wont be much bigger. Patience is a virtue supposedly, but it can also pay off especially with a great phone like this one.
