The G1 has nowhere near the horsepower of the Hero. So, the G1 would not be a good representative of android's capabilities. The processor speed, rom/ram are identical on the Hero and the TP2. Sp speed would go down to the most optimized OS. Also, the Android community is growing all the time, with available apps increasing rather quickly (the app store currently has around 6k apps, not sure how many are useful...but I digress). If you need a physical keyboard, and want a larger screen, the TP2 is a better choice. For me, I've grown tired of WM. I have 6.5 on my mogul, and while it is much much much much better than wm 5 and 6.1, 6.5 is like putting a coat of wax on a car you've wrapped around a tree. MS should have released 6.5 at least a year ago. I may be back when WM7 is released, but if MS does more of the same with 7, then it will be "Sayonara MS!" I hope MS succeeds in their future versions of WM.

I just came across that program yesterday...I think this might be my best bet for migrating my contacts over to Android...Thanks

I agree on all points. I hate to leave winmo since I have been a customer for over 2 years. Some have been loyal much longer than me I know. But at one time I would have never left. 6.5 seems like too little too late, and 7, hopefully will be a complete revamping of mobile operating systems, not just winmo. If I come back it will be because I don't like android or because wm7 changes the entire game like the iphone did.

I imported my outlook contacts into google by exporting a .csv file. All went well EXCEPT how the contact is "filed" on my WM device. For instance, I want my friend "John Smith"to be displayed as "Dr. John" in my WM contacts. Somehow google decided that "Smith, John" was more appropriate.
This is a known issue with Google sync and unfortunately there's no workaround that I've foind. This is why I had to ditch it and use Nuevasync instead. Although I'd love to get free push gmail by using the official google sync, it's not worth screwing up my contacts.. If you happen to find a solution, please do let us know.

TIA.

Here's a PDF of the Sprint Hero user guide. Should help answer questions about the device that may be lingering.

Re: HTC Hero on its way to Sprint! Confirmed!

Ok, I did a bit of searching on here, and definitely did my due dillegence researching online, however, I was unable to get confirmation on a few points regarding the Hero. I'm hoping someone here can provide some insight.

1. I understand that with Android (unless you mod it, which I most likely will not be doing) you cannot run applications from the SD Card. That being said, the Hero comes with 512MB internal storage, and say hypothetically, I have 350 contacts, never delete text messages or call log and have 60 apps installed (most likely, no games, which i understand take up the most room), will the storage provided suffice? What gets stored on internal memory besides apps?

2. Has visual voicemail been confirmed? I've seen Sprint documentation stating it was, however, I haven't seen it referenced in any of the 25 or so reviews I've read.

3. How does the calendar, mail and contact clients stack up against WinMo? I rely heavily on my calendar, as it's synced with my company's exchange server. It basically keeps my life orgainzed on every level, so I'd really need it to be pretty solid. Again, I haven't really seen this touched on in any of the reviews. Same with mail. Contacts I guess I've seen reviewed pretty extensively because of the integration it has with all of the social networking and whatnot, so my main concern are the calendar and the mail clients.

4. Can the Hero be used with a Mac OSX? I am not looking to sync anything, as that will all be handled via Exchange Servers, however, for adding music files, pictures, other files, can it be used via USB with a Mac? I'm pretty sure it can, since it is essentially "mounting" the SD card to act as an external, and I don't believe that would be O/S specific, but again, I haven't found any hard evidence that confirms it one way or the other.

5. Is it correct that there is no Bluetooth file transfer capabilities? It's not a deal breaker, but it sure is awfully nice when i want to xfer something really quick while at work and without a cable.

If anyone can provide insight, I would GREATLY appreciate it.

Thanks guys.
