It is 1.5. Were it 1.6, we could've run Google navigation, speech to text, and had universal search out of the box. It was definitely cupcake.

Ok. I stand corrected on the 1.5 thing but you still cant use Google nav in 1.6 and 1.5 does have speech to text using handcent.

I have 1.6 on my g1 and use Google navigation with it all the time, and I mean speech to text as a universal input method.

No...it comes with 1.5 out of the box. Hero never came with 1.6.
