Re: Rooted Users Happy with Official Sprint 2.1?
Will not flash official release until there is Root available...
Is there anything special about the official release...??? Last edited by hooover; 05-21-2010 at 02:49 PM. |

Re: Rooted Users Happy with Official Sprint 2.1?
Just get one of the roms from Fresh (either Fresh Rom, or Fresh Toast v 2.1), or a DamageControl rom. They are rooted, and are based off the sprint 2.1 release (at least they are based on the "leak" right before the rom was officialy released by Sprint/HTC).

Re: Rooted Users Happy with Official Sprint 2.1?
I was rooted and flashed the official 2.1 to my phone. While i do miss having root, it's not the end of the world. I just don't use the apps that i don't want to use. I had live wallpapers and half the time they didn't work or lagged badly.
My phone is running nice and smooth and i have not had any complaints so far from anyone that i've updated so far. I'm a tech at a Sprint store and have updated about 30 - 40 heros so far. I could easily have just kept a custom rom and waited for someone to root the official 2.1, but i didn't feel comfortable flashing an update to a customers, or co-workers, phone without having tested it out first. So i used my phone as the guinea pig because i knew that i could fix it, but a regular customer wouldn't be to happy with me if i had to take a while trying to fix a phone because of a bad software flash.

Re: Rooted Users Happy with Official Sprint 2.1?
I put the Sprint 2.1 on my Hero after being rooted with Flipz rom's (which are great), just to see what the major difference would be. I knew going into it, that it patches up the root on your device, but did it anyway. I'm 50/50 with it. I feel like its a WAY more stable rom than the rooted versions out ther, but at the same time, I love the power of being rooted, and being able to customize my device. So if an auto rooter comes out (which I'm sure it will soon) then I will root. Doesn't matter though, I am selling my Hero to get the Evo. peace-

Re: Rooted Users Happy with Official Sprint 2.1?
I had a hero that was rooted, but I needed to get a replacement. Sprint automatically put their 2.1 on it. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. But I really miss the live wall papers. I also don't like how the lock screen is the same as 1.5.
