Yes, I installed that program and it seems to work fine.. used it to reboot, then used it to reboot into recovery mode, didn't try bootloader mode. Does that mean I'm actually rooted? It's android 1.5, sprint.

I guess so, I've never used that program. Try Titanium Backup or Wireless Tether for Root Users (which I CANNOT for the life of me get to work)

Wifi tether works! YES! Believe it or not that was the main reason I wanted to root my device!

BTW, if you can get into recovery at all, you are rooted.

I can get into recovery, but when I try to run Wifi tether it says I need root privaleges.
Does that mean I am not rooted? |

Re: Did I successfully ROOT my HERO? How can I tell?
Just click Allow. It'll always prompt for root.
TO see if your rooted, I believe the simplest thing is Connect your device to the USB Open a command terminal (type cmd in Run) cd c:\android-sdk-windows\tools adb shell If you see a # sign instead of a $ sign, you are rooted. If you see a $, try typing 'su' If it changes to #, you are rooted. |
