Hello,

I will be traveling overseas and wanted to use Fring for Skype calls. The confusion I have is some of the countries I will be traveling to offer Roaming CDMA connections.

How do I just turn on WiFi without having the phone accidentally roam on a CDMA network? Using stock Sprint ROM.

You can put it into Airplane mode.

Airplane mode turns off all connections on the Hero - you can't cut on Wi-Fi in Airplane mode.

Think I figured it out. Settings > Wireless controls > Mobile Network Settings and turn off "Data Roaming". Could also set "Roaming" to Sprint Only.

I've said this before... I'm not sure but I use beautiful widgets and i have my wifi setup ok... so make sure I have it set, I add the beautiful widget for wifi toggle, out the phone into airplane mode and then i push the wifi widget and it triggers it correctly. try it.

I have a wifi widget and it grays out when I put the phone in to airplane mode. For some reason, airplane mode shuts the entire radio off and does not allow any connections. On my TP2, I did this without any problems at all. Why can't we figure out this out with the Hero? It's driving me nuts.

Well as I've said, I'm currently using the fresh ROM, I'm using the phone with only WIFI on and the phone in airplane mode, I do this so people don't bug me at times when I'm not in a good mood lol, but look I'm not sure which widget you have for that but if you can afford the money for the "beutiful widgets" I think you should, cheap cost but, trigger the phone into airplane mode and then turn it on with the beautiful widget wifi, it works each single time for me, can anyone confirm this? I know someone must have beautiful widgets in here except me. are you guys on stock? btw I should be posting this on you're thread as this OP found there answer
