I have search high and low to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

1. How do I disable the email sound notification? I went to mail\menu\more\settings\notification settings and Email notifications are off, notification sound is off, and notification vibrate is off yet my phone still makes a noise everytime I get an email. Any ideas???

2. When you root the phone, mine is not rooted, does it do a hard reset or does it just come back up rooted? Just curious because I am not ready to start putting custom roms on it yet but there are some apps I want that the phone needs to be rooted first. For example, wifi tethering.
