Re: i think ill keep hero over evo and legend

I can see where you're coming from OP. The hero is a very well built device. I wish the EVO had a trackball as well. I use it all the time for various things. The screen might be a bit big for me as well, but with those specs I may just overlook the flaws i see in it, and make the switch

Re: i think ill keep hero over evo and legend

I've been happy with my hero, but the gf wants a better web experience on her phone (she has an instinct). If the evo isn't too crazy priced, I'll get that. Otherwise, it's the N1 for me. Gf will get my hero. I'm going to pay retail, as I may plan shop when my contract fulfillment is up in April 2011.

Re: i think ill keep hero over evo and legend

I am with you OP. I really like the construction of the Hero. I haven't had any problems with the phone. I would like better video streaming but I am hoping that 2.1 fixes some of that. I really like that there are no scratches or dings in my phone after months of normal use, thats new to me. I will probably end up with one of the new phones mid next year but I am not going to try to sell my Hero before the market crashes to get cash to buy the N1 or Evo.

I'll take the EVO possibly when I have the spare cash to drop on it. Not sure what they'll charge for it, but I'm going to guess it'll be close to $500, what with all those specs.

We can compare the price in two ways: We know the Nexus One goes for $530, unsubsidized. The Evo will have a 4G radio, as well as a larger screen, and better camera. Not sure the difference in price on an AMOLED 3.7" vs a 4.3" TFT screen is. It may be more than the Nexus One, full retail.

But, the T-Mobile HD2 is either $449, or $499, unsubsidized (can't remember, and don't want to look it up). These phones are identical, except for the camera, ROM, and 4G radio. The Evo could be similarly priced to the HD2 on T-Mo. And by similarly, I mean within $25.

I'm hoping the "extras" on the Evo don't put this phone on the "high as hell" pricing scheme. My guess on the price? Between $500-$550.

I'm comparing it to the Apple iPhone and the HTC TouchPro2. This EVO seems to be focused on those two, being full touch screen phones. Factor in the 720p HD output the EVO is capable of, would rack it up a bit more in cost compared to the TP2. But, this is my guess only.

If you look at Sprint only on the TP2, and the Evo, the TP2 was available for SERO customers. The Evo won't. To give a somewhat apples/apples comparison, the Samsung Moment is $480, full retail. Slightly faster processor, slightly smaller screen, same ROM/RAM/battery/Camera/etc. Main difference: Android on the Moment, and TP2 on SERO accounts. TP2 was an additional $75, only because of the required plans. I know I've simplified my example, but I chose a qwerty android device on sprint, and a qwerty winmo device on sprint.

Re: i think ill keep hero over evo and legend

Well I might have my wife turned..I told her to play with my hero.. for a bit today.. she liked it.. but is kinda like inbetween.. cause she has the tour.. and loves the keyboard..

I was like hey let me buy u a moment on craiglist.. then sell your tour... then i could do the same to get the n1 or evo later in the summer..

its either keep at it.. to convince her..lol or wait til dec.. but im in no hurry.. I really do like the hero.. love the form and build quality.. though i am getting more dust under the screen.. but heres the thing .. with brightness all the way up i can really notice it..unless im in direct sunlight..which is rare..for me..lol

might just take it to a sprint store to see bout getting that fixed..

The evo is so nice i cant help but not want it..lol but wants and needs are to diff thing to a wife.lol
