Need Serious expert help! Phone is down.
Info
- Sprint - HTC Hero w/google (on back of case) - Purchased 2-19-10 NEW So between this site and other I have "Rooted" my phone using Pre-kitchen 0.2 with updated patch. Used this guide Guide I also setup the manual way but never did anything with it. Just did it for learning experience. Steps 1. Backup phone 2. Rooted phone = Successful 3. Phone worked just fine 4. Wanted to place the "Stock Sprint RUU" back on just in case I need to send into service. 5. Keep in mind NOTHING IS ON MY PHONE. I like to do this BEFORE I start loading up contacts/apps/emails etc. Gives me the ability to see how things work before I get my phone filled up with important info. 6. So I downloaded the stock sprint RUU Here which is the same one over at XDA. 7. Run the exe and everything is smooth. 8. Then it gets to 90% and I get the 110 Error that files are missing or damaged. Picture of Error 9. Closed Utility and took out battery, tried again....same thing. Tried XDA's ruu for sprint and still same thing. 10. Cant access anything 11. Nothing connected, and if I turn on the phone its a black screen 12. Plug in USB cable and shows "HTC" 13. Unplug USB cable shows HERC XC HBOOT-1.41.0000 (HERO20000_ MICROP-0110 Touch Panel -SYN0104 Radio-1.04.01.09.21 Sep 1, 2009, 19:18:45 Then a white box that says RUU Then another white box (blank) Below the two shows a triangle with an exclamation point inside it. -Vol down power does nothing - Home, back, and power nothing - Power, and home nothing Any help is greatly appreciated. I really need your expert help! FYI= I do use searches and have been pulling my hair out. If I do a search for 110 RUU error or any other combinations I get only a few tips Main thread I found is here, but no real tips Thanks Last edited by xtreme3881; 02-21-2010 at 02:03 PM. |

Re: Need Serious expert help! Phone is down.
OK----------
When you ran the RUU, you un-rooted your phone. When it failed in the RUU, it bricked your phone. I am using the term bricked fairly liberally, btw. What you are going to need to do is
The RUU completely unroots the phone. After you first root it, that nandroid backup you make will be your return to stock. Always keep that one. if you are going to a sprint store, they will have almost no way of knowing you rooted the phone, and only very few associates there will know how to check, and even fewer of those will even be motivated to check. The RUU is only for situations like the one the RUU put you in in this instance. Let me know how it goes.

Re: Need Serious expert help! Phone is down.
Sorry all I was away. I ended up switching to a new phone. For what its worth I did try multiple RUU's from one from XDA, 1 hosted here, and another on geekme site. Sprint just took back my old Hero and gave me a new one.... I am still curious what happed before I try to do this to the new one.

Re: Need Serious expert help! Phone is down.
@bradart...As you can see from my orig. post I did the Vol down and power and couldn't get it to do anything. If I did any of the variation of clicks/hold, my phone would just stay at a blank black screen. Only way I could get it to show something new is to plug in the USB cable (which would only show the HTC logo).
