Unlike Windows, Linux is case sensitive, so what you've experienced is a change from Windows to a Linux environment.

The easiest way to make your ringtones work, regardless, of what type, or where you put them, is to download an app called Rings Extended.

On the SD card root create the following folder paths and from what Ive expierienced it is case sensitive.

Create a folder on the root named "media"
media>

Inside "media" create a folder named "audio"
media>audio

Inside "audio" create three more folders named "ringtones", "notifications", & "alarms"
media>audio>ringtones
media>audio>notifications
media>audio>alarms

Then just put your ringtones in the ringtones folder, your notification sounds in the notifications folder (text, IM, email alerts, etc.) And put any sounds you may want to use as an alarm tone for the alarm clock in the alarms folder.

Hope this saves you some time!
good info. is there any way to move the ringtones from the phone to the storage card?

If you enjoy phones that don't suck, go for Android.

Dude, I loved my T.P., I had no gripes about it, hardly ever malfunctioned and it did what I needed it to do...I was happy with the applications and the way that it ran and thoroughly enjoyed the phone to its fullest capacity.

That said, my HERO, by far, is the sickest phone I've ever owned. From the messaging apps to the barcode reader and the sweet UI to the google contacts importing, it's just a badass, exciting piece of technology that can only get better when they release 2.1 for Sprint.

Two words: Do it.
