Re: Thinking about making the swap to a HERO from a touch pro 2

I broke my pro 2 and didn't want to pay 100.00 for another. I have had the hero about 4 days now and was missing my pro 2 at first, but once I got used to the hero I must say I love it. I absolutely loved the pro 2's keyboard and roms, but the hero does what you want without the crazy glitches. Plus a friend of mine hooked me up with a hero for only 20.00. Can't beat that! Plus the phones use the exact same battery so now I have two extras since buying a spare.

Basically just looking for pros and cons if any

Thanks.
I just switched to the Hero from the Touch Pro (skipped the TP2) and I have to say I can't ever see myself going back to WinMo ever again. I never knew how bad we had it on WinMo until I saw Android. The constant memory leaks, soft resets, LAG!!!, etc. I haven't experienced any of that on the Hero.

Pros: apps for anything, prettier UI, better social networking & Google apps integration, virtually no lag after you've flashed a new ROM and installed setcpu, better battery life (than my TP), and many more that don't come to mind

Cons: no slide out keyboard (does the TP2 have a physical kb?), but you quickly get used to this as the android software keyboard is pretty good at knowing what you are trying to type and you can also get the Swype keyboard which is tremendously easier for one-hand texting. The only other con that I have discovered is that the email app does not delete my messages off the server or mark them as read. So for example, if I read an email on my Hero, it still shows as unread when I check hotmail on the comp. There must be a work-around for this, but I haven't found it yet. (This is a non-issue for gmail though)

I say go for it. Or wait until the end of the week to see if any other phones get announced at the MWC...

I would have paid the hundred bucks to get the replacement just to sell it if you got a Hero for $20. Just my 2 cents.

My phone arrives tomorrow.
