ROM Comparison & Review

I'd like for this thread to be a place for people to compare the available ROM's for our devices. I know there are lists availabe (such as this one), but I'd rather not read 50 pages on each ROM's thread OR install each one and test it out. I want to know your experiences and opinions. So for those of you who have which ROM do you like and why?

Re: ROM Comparison & Review

You know really when it comes down to it they're all the same because they're all based off the same thing. What sets them apart is the small and unique changes each dev makes to his/her Rom. You'll find that the rom that best suites you is probably the closest to what Rom you would make if you could/did.

I remember I asked virtually the same question about thedude and jesusfreke roms when i had my G1, and same thing still applies, try it.

You couldn't even flash a Rom without loosing all your shit on G1. On a hero you can switch seemlessly between roms without loosing anything. So if anything, the same advice I was given only applies even more now--try them out for yourself.

Wow. This goes to show how some people on these boards go out of there way to be snobs. I wasn't asking for anything to be spoon fed. In fact, I've had this phone for a week and have already flashed two ROM's. I was simply asking for other people's experiences. Now, tell me, what could possibly be so horrible about asking other people's opinions?

Actually, you did not complete the requirements. While you did succeed at being a smartass, you failed to provide anything of value. Whatsover. Again I must ask, why would you guys waste your time replying if you have nothing to say?

You have been helpful to me another time and I appreciate it. So there are no problems with flashing ROM's without wiping? Cuz I thought I read somewhere (I could be mistaken considering the sheer amount I've read over the last few days) that sometimes a wipe is necessary? And I'm sure I've seen ROM's that mention that it's built for no wipe necessary which seemed to imply that some are not.

I am working on testing the ROM's out myself, but what I really am curious about is which one seems to be the fastest/snappiest? I know their are a few different kernels floating around so I imagine that there must be some differences, albeit slight ones.

Everyone will think x is better than y (especially if thy have x installed.) Only after testing the ROMs yourself will you know which one suits your needs the best (Which is what I think the previous posters were trying to say)

I'm currently running Gumbo 1.5c "Bare" w/Sense UI. I've used Fresh 1.0/1.1, TTG, and Modaco 1.1/2.2. Of all of them I like Gumbo's the best, it feels snappier than the rest but (it does have his modified kernel based on his ROM). Even snappier than Fresh 1.1 with either Modaco's or Gumbo CKs (until trying this ROM I felt either combination of Fresh+CK offered the best performance). Without CKs applied IMO all of the custom ROMs are essentially the same with minute differences any speed increases are perceived.

As for the "data wipe" before flashing, some user do it to minimize the chances of boot loops or force closes. Sometimes I return to stock, re-root my phone, and then install the new ROM (extreme probably but it works for me.) Hope this helps you out.

I'm not sure why you would refuse to read the wealth of information here and on xda but choose to disown your illiteracy in this thread. Stick with the stock rom. You are obviously in it's target demographic.

BTW, check our join dates and post/thanks count. I have no problem giving support and information, but i do have a problem with posts like this from members like you. I would get exactly the same responses if i started this thread. I suggest you start searching.

Easy with the bickering or Mr. X will get pissed.

I don't understand this thread, there are about 19 of them in the TP1 thread, I remember seeing them daily. Read all the info at the beginning of the rom thread and pick and choose what you want. Flipz should have a real kitchen soon, so you don't have to worry about anyone else's roms, you can cook your own easily.

Bradart, say something useful. Haha jk bro.

If i said something useful, i doubt he'd expend the energy to find it in the thread. He's got some aversion to information seeking.
