Re: Disapponted with my new hero.

Re: Disapponted with my new hero.
So Can I yell at you because my Windows 7 laptop locked up again today
![]() I read all of these Hero rant threads and dont understand half of why people bitch. The problems you guys have I want to see because I'm sure as hell not having them. The biggest problem I had i started a thread for here to find out I'm not the only one with random reboots. Guess what that's it. Stock Rom. Not slow. Plenty of apps and moderate usage. I won't be leaving the hero... In fact my gf is ready to get rid of my old touch pro so she can get something android.

Re: Disapponted with my new hero.
Got my hero the day it came out, and like a few out there, the lag issue with the keyboard was almost a deal-breaker. Got tired of playing with apps about a month in, then I rooted, and flashed Fresh 1.1. Youtube plays, and theres a second of lag when the keyboard goes landscape, other than that, I can type as fast as I want, and it doesn't lag.
Having worked with a few people that owned a Moment, I love the build quality of the Hero MUCH better. The Moment just seems like a hunk of plastic in your hands. And no, the processor doesn't really make a difference, though the 2 that I've tested were both fully stock, so that's not a fair comparison. And, this is just my opinion, but until Palm comes out with something that I don't have to use my fingernails to type with, they can keep that $*&t' I'm Brad Harvey, and I love my Hero.

Re: Disapponted with my new hero.
Well if you use the virtual keyboard on the pre you won't have to use your finernails. I totally agree with the OP, I find myself using my pre about 90% of the time and my hero and diamond the other 10%. Although I do wish palm would put out devices with better build quality (hey palm can you say "glass screen" and ruberised plastic or metal?) Now if only I could get webOS on something like an HD2. That would pretty much be my perfect device.

It is absolutely a hack. Just because the installers have gotten more mature and easy to use doesn't mean it's not a hack.
Besides, the fact remains that it sucks. |

Re: Disapponted with my new hero.
Had the Sprint Hero for 2 weeks, loved it. Returned it due to faulty trackball. While waiting for the return process and my upgrade eligibility to be restored, I'm using the Pre. While there are things I really like about the Pre (keyboard, touchstone, Preware, no dialer/incoming call lag), I am looking forward to getting another Hero. Feels like the Pre should be more mature at this point. Can't easily adjust brightness. No reliable alarm applications. Reception is horrible (side by side, Pre is -110 db, wife's hero is -92 db, can't make calls from certain rooms which has NEVER been a problem with any other phone, numerous reports of same on internets). Can't pick/choose bluetooth profiles, either all or nothing. Uncertainty of OTA updates wiping out tethering ability. All that is just off the top of my head. Went emergency TV shopping (haha) this weekend, and ended up using the Hero to do the comparison shopping while in the stores, just faster and easier, not to mention Barcode Scanner... Give me a Hero with wireless charging and a slide-down hardware keyboard and I'll be in heaven! But for now I'll just install the speech incoming call notification to get rid of the incoming call lag and plug in a cable to charge. Until Sprint gets a super 2.1 phone with Snapdragon that is, and I'm sure that will be perfect
