Help me keep my Hero.....

THIS IS IN NO WAY BASHING THE HERO AT ALL

I have the Hero now, but am still within my 30 days (around 2 weeks left). I came from the Pre, and while it could be a little buggy at times, I know the processor has the potential to utilize it with the GPU and everything. I like Android, the development, and all that is going for it; however, I HATE the processor on the Hero. Why did HTC choose to use it?

I love that the Hero has more battery life and just feels like a strong solid device (Pre feels like a plastic toy) and that for now (when not multi-tasking), the Hero feels snappier when moving between apps. When I went back to Pre before (I had tried the Hero one time and decided I would stay with it later) it just felt like I took a step backwards compared to Android OS. But it also felt a little snappier because of the processor.

Here is my question: Should I hold out for 2.1 and pray that it speeds things up, or should I just drop the Hero and wait for a stronger Android device on Sprint? (I will NOT take the Moment, even with the 800 mhz processor.....that thing looks ugly and just doesn't feel as nice as the Hero). I know software can only take a device so far vs. hardware specs......

I just don't know what to do.....
