http://www.google.com/mobile/products/sync.html#p=winmo I'd be sure to make a PIM backup of your contacts before you do this though...just to be safe. Also, on the WinMo phone your contacts will get changed to show Last name, First name....that's just the way it does it. Once you sync the contacts onto the Hero everything will look fine.

Re: Transferring Contacts from TP1 to Hero
I'm not sure if there is a charge if you didn't get the phone from them, but Best Buy Mobile (inside every Best Buy) has a device that can transfer contacts and stuff from pretty much any phone to any other phone. Might want to see if it's free.

Re: Transferring Contacts from TP1 to Hero
With the Google/gmail enhanced Hero, the best thing to do is to keep your contacts updated with gmail. Any contact you have in your gmail contacts, is automatically synced/updated to your phone and vice-versa. Even when you tie a picture to a contact from your phone, it becomes a permanent part of your gmail account. It works so great, you can add one or a bunch of contacts to your gmail account if you have a computer/internet handy and it syncs wicked-fast to your phone.
Also, if you ever have to do a hard reset to your phone, all you have to do is enter your google/gmail settings to the factory-set phone, and all your contacts are right back on your phone. The setup is flawless, and I've done the hard-reset thing more than once to correct the other little "issues" you see discussed here on ppcgeeks. People kind of whine that they don't want to have every number they program into their phone become part of their gmail contacts, but the best remedy for that and keeping organized is being able to create and sort your contacts into groups created from your phone and gmail. It all syncs together. |

Re: Transferring Contacts from TP1 to Hero
Ok maybe I didn't state my problem correctly, cause I keep getting told to connect my phone when the old phone has no service, it's dead.
OK here I go: My old phone TP1 has been disconnected and no longer has any service what so ever. I was unable to Active Sync my phone to my PC at work because the CD-ROM drive doesn't operate and I was never able to install my TP1 included disc. I do not have Outlook and I never uploaded my information to Gmail. I need: To transfer my contacts from the Service-less TP1. I have a USB Cable and that's about it. I installed Active Sync from Microsoft, but i dont have office or outlook. Last edited by Jessnchar; 12-23-2009 at 07:04 PM. |
