Re: t mobile has 4g speeds

And another update.. I switched radios.. Same shit speeds. Evenw with 20 connections to hotfile (I have an account). NNTP seems to be the quickest, occassionaly going over 1.1 to 1.2 Mb/sec as if it were breaking the law. I swear theres some unreasonable speed cap around here..

Its 4AM too. Seeing as I'm such an optimist, I wanted to try it when the network wasn't possibly flooded. I'm going to try the sim in a different leo.. Thats right. I have two of them

I'd honestly stop testing lol. It sounds like T-Mobile isn't the greatest in your area. And that's what it's all about, finding out who has the best service in your area.

Even for me, some areas around here are dead zones. Foruntetally for me T-Mobile is great in general, but I live in the Boston area, not far from the water at all. And the closer I get to the beaches south of Boston I slowly start to loose HSDPA (in the city is always perfect, even in the harbor), and by the time I get to the beach I have shit data service. Voice I almost never loose, rarely I'll loose signal for a couple seconds while I'm on the beach or out on the boat a little offshore, but even then I can usually get voice service (and then I have a sat phone / TV and CB radio on my boat so I wont be stranded lol)

If you're getting speeds that slow I doubt you'll see much improvement in your area for about a year unfortunately. (oh and if you're not using google chrome then you need to re-test. Firefox and everything else is about half the speed if not worse, when compared to chrome)

Re: t mobile has 4g speeds

I tested using 30 nntp connections, downloading 300mb! And I have 4 bars with the H in my taskbar. HSPA+ is said to be coming to my area in a few weeks.

Re: t mobile has 4g speeds

So either this speakeasy 'net connection test site is crazy or Uzard does something goofy that lets speed tests show ridiculous numbers...

does uzard do server side rendering like opera and skyfire??? That might be it.

I've been using internet explorer and getting 2-4mbps down on mobilespeedtest.com (even with the 5mb download).

Re: t mobile has 4g speeds

I live on Oahu (Hawaii) and i see 'H' (HSDPA?)almost all the time.
What will I see if I were to get HSPA+?
Also, with H, i get around 1200-1300 kbps. How's that compare?

depending on your taskbar, you could see a H+ instead of H. Go to xda-developers.com and search for tacchan23 taskbar. His will show the H+.

Re: t mobile has 4g speeds

T-mo released HSPA+ in 21 metro areas throughout the country today. Many of us should see big gains in speed. I personally have reached speeds of 5.5mbs when tethered to my laptop. The coverage map on t-mo's site is being updated so make sure to take a look at it in the next few days.
