Re: downgrade to froyo from gb?

I think if you took the OTA update that you are stuck until unrevoked or someone else figures out a way to root the update. Should have just downloaded and installed the rooted GB update that's out so you wouldn't have lost root. Maybe someone else can chime in and knows something but I'm pretty sure your stuck.

Re: downgrade to froyo from gb?

If the phone was ever rooted, it probably is still S-Off..if it is all you need to do is flash a recovery and you'll be good to go to flash another ROM. If you need a recovery image just ask and I'll post one.

Re: downgrade to froyo from gb?

so explain to me how he's going to "downgrade" from GB to 2.2 if he's not rooted, which means he has taken the OTA upgrade, there is no rooting from the OTA GB, would be a different story if he was rooted and installed a custom GB rom and wanted to go back to 2.2, but that's not the case.

If the phone is still S Off you absolutely can do it. I did it. It's possible. So I'll explain it to you.

1. boot into bootloader. Edit : Turn off fast boot first
2. see if the phone is S Off. If it is continue. If not, you're SOL.
3. Update to the custom recovery I've attached. (drop the img file onto the SD card, boot into Bootloader and accept the update)
4. reboot. Remove the img file from SD card, drop new ROM .zip on there. Boot into the recovery.
5. Flash new rom.
6. Hit thanks

Understood, I know how to root and flash roms and all that, but if you look at his statement above you will see that he said he's NOT rooted, which to me I'm assuming that he's saying he accepted the OTA GB update, which means he's not going to be able to downgrade back to Froyo, unless you know something that the rest of us don't, I'm not trying to give you a hard time, I just want to make sure that he's getting the correct information for his issue.

Re: downgrade to froyo from gb?

Let me clarify : When you accept the OTA you lose recovery, busy box, and super user..If you go into bootloader and are still S-Off then this method WILL work.

My first response in this thread said "If the phone was ever rooted, it probably is still S-Off"...So, what I'm talking about here is repairing if the phone was rooted and updated. If the phone has never been rooted and then was updated, then no, you can't root as of yet.

Here are 2 other discussions regarding the same thing.

If you have S-Off and Updated via OTA - xda-developers

exactly my point, if you accept the OTA GB update then it's going to lock the phone up and you are not going to be able to root the phone until the unrevoked team or someone else cracks that nut.

And it keeps being said that "if" he was rooted, that's not even a question, he already said that he wasn't rooted in the first post, so I don't understand why it keeps coming up. Doesn't look like the OP is even paying attention to his thread anyways so guess it doesn't matter either way.
