Exclamation Just bought Evo 4G off craigslist. Few questions...

So I bought an Evo 4G off craigslist. I told him I just wanted a clean ESN and no water damage. I got it and won't activate it until my girlfriend comes back into town. But I did check one thing after I left. Bootloader. I noticed the Security was off (S-OFF). The HBOOT version was this:

SUPERSONIC EVT2-2 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-2.10.0001
MICROP-041f
TOUCH PANEL-ATMEL224_16ab
RADIO-2.15.00.11.19

Since I won't have it activated until around Thursday or Friday, I still have time to turn the security back on. And switching it back to S-ON is just relocking it, right? I'm sure there's a thread here that explains how to do so, so I'm not worried about that.

What I am worried about though, is why he sold it to me for $175. To me, thats cheap for the phone, it was in practically perfect condition and even came with an extended battery. Do you think he broke the 4G antenna? Is there a way to check that before bringing it into Sprint?

Also, I don't need to have mobile internet connection to turn S-ON, right, I can do it when it's still not activated...?

Any help would be very very much appreciated!!!

Get wimax key checker from the market to check 4G

You don't need internet to activate s-on
And if you activate online or over the phone you will not need to turn s-on back on

Use WiFi and create a gooogle account or log into the phone on WiFi. U can get the Wimax checker off market like the above says. U have no reason to turn s-on if u acivate if over the phone or online. Shit u probably would have no problems in the store as long as it is a completely stock Rom and no funny boot animation shows up. When I got my EVO they never went into bootloader when they activated it. I have even had the screen serviced while rooted.

Oh yeah, duh! I forgot you could do it via online chat or by phone. Well why do you think he sold it to me for cheap? It just doesn't seem realistic that he'd sell me it in such perfect condition for so cheap...

If he is able to upgrade then you basically just paid for his Evo 3D if you add like $25 depending on where he buys it.....the Evo 3D drops on 6/24.....there is already a review from Wirefly posted on youtube and if your an employee of Sprint or a Premier Customer you get it earlier than that

Im really not into the 3D aspect of the Evo 3D either....especially since i bought my wife a 3DS and she dont even use the damn 3D slider at all and it looks cheesy as hell.....but my TP2 is going to the trash....the plastic is peeling of my screen from the bottom left corner has multiple scratches and dings and is running slower than ever......i just need a new phone and the Evo 3D drops on my birthday so why not upgrade.....i always buy my phones off contract so i dont have to be stuck on contract just in case i want to ditch Sprint.....had this upgrade for 2 years now might as well use it
