Streaming video and buffering

I finally rooted my phone. One reason I wanted to do it was I am having trouble with streaming video. I know sprint TV sucks in general and many people have had problems but my problem seems to be unique. I seem to have a pretty good download speed with 3g. When I try to watch a video on sprint tv or you tube the video downloads and starts off fabulous. I can see the download going on the bottom and it moves way ahead so that I should have no problems watching the video. The problem is, the video will still buffer after a little bit on sprint tv (even when it has obviously downloaded way more of the video already) and the little circle thing (buffering) will come up on the screen. On you tube it will download really fast for like 30 seconds and like half the video will be downloaded very quick but then it just seems to stop downloading and then the video catches up to the point where the downloading had gotten to and only then will it try to download the rest of the video causing it to buffer??? Could it be that I am not getting consistent 3g signal? I don't know. Do you think a new rom would help me or is there something in my settings that may be causing this issue. Thanks for any responses.

Re: Streaming video and buffering

First, set up for a WiFi connectioin and see if you are getting the same results. If so, then you know it is not a bandwidth issue.

As far as buffers, each app managers its own. I don't think a Rom change would would make a difference, other than one that is overclocked.

One thing that does matter is available memory. Be sure you have all the apps pushed over to the SD card that you can. Also, test your phone from a vanilla state. I.e. do a beboot and when you start up, immediately run you test. If it performs well but degrades latter on, you know you are dealing with either low memory or overtaxed CPU.

Its not the connection, its the apps. SprintTv blows. You cant use that app on wifi anyway. I have noticed that my performance streaming high quality youtube vids and general embedded video has greatly improved with 10.2.

Re: Streaming video and buffering

Well I am running gingerbread now and when I installed it I lost everything and haven't had a lot of luck with my back up so I am just reinstalling everything. The good part is that the streaming video is now great on you tube but I lost sprint tv and imagine I can't get it back now unless I install the stock rom? Oh well, there are many better apps I am sure.

Just Google "sprint.apk". You'll get it back

Cooler than your EVO

There is a reason most Rom developers drop SprintTV.

It sucks

Sprint tv really really sucks. It's one of the first things I took off after rooting. And I don't mean just on evo. I have went through about 4-5 different smartphones with Sprint tv on them and never once enjoyed using it.
