Market not automatically reinstalling a lot of stuff after wipe

The market automatically updated just a few apps (e.g. Flash). After Wipe/Flash of Custom ROM.

I'm running Sprint Lovers (which I don't think it had anything to do with) because I had the same issue with just Wipe with Stock ROM.

When I ran wipe with Stock ROM it updated all teh Google Apps and Flash and that's it.

It only listed Paid apps but didn't go ahead and install them.

Anything free is not listed at all unless it was a Google App.

What am I missing?

The market never works that way for me either. You should use titanium backup. It works everytime!

The market will only reinstall apps you purchased. Apps that are free have to be done manually. It won't remember free apps. Just use an backup program or write them down before you wipe.

No, that is not true. When I do a stock wipe, it automatically downloads the newer versions of apps that I do not have. I do not run a custom rom, but I use Titanium to "Integrate newer versions into system." If I do a wipe after that, it does not need to download those updates, because it already has them.

I suspect the issue he is having is not really an issue. He saw many updates being downloaded after a stock wipe. I believe that Sprint Lovers Rom probably has some of those updates integrated into the system already. The smaller number of updates that he is downloading are newer versions of those, or other apps that were updated after the rom was released. (or just were not included in Sprint Lovers Rom for any other reasons he might have had.)

As far as paid vs non paid apps...the only apps that REQUIRE a manual update are apps that have permissions changes. This is to prevent an app from having new access to stuff without your permission that a previous version did not. I know most people don't care, and just click OK or INSTALL, etc... without reading the permissions authorization page.

Partly right.

Anything already in ROM does update.

Anything paid does not automatically install but does show up in "MyApps" ready to be manually refreshed.

Anything not in ROM or unpaid has no trace.

This is true with Stock, Sprint Lovers and Evo-Nonsense ROMs.

The 2.3 gingerbread ROMs support google backup and will restore all apps that are registered with Google Backup.

I didn't want to restore with Ti Backup on dramatically different ROMs.

I wish something could just record the "List" of apps and flag to Market they need to be reinstalled. Rather than actually restoring them. That would be ideal.

Use the appbrain market. It keeps an inventory of what you have installed. I have used it for the last few reflashes, and it works great. It installs apps 5 at a time. I tried using Ti backup, but it always rebooted my phone when I started the batch install.

Now I just re install the apps fresh (which is better IMO
since it seems like a cleaner install) and restore app data using Ti Backup

TI reboots cause you need to update busybox, click on "PROBLEMS" button and you will be prompted to download.

Unfortunately, I tried that. Also, omj cooks the busy box into his rom. I even tried to format the SD card, but it still does the same thing. Who knows

From my experience, Titanium Backup used to reboot after installing Lookout, but that seems to have been fixed in newer versions.

Appbrain is great, just what the doctor ordered. Thanks.
