EVO Won't wake up....?`

In the last few days I have noticed my EVO unable to wake from sleep. I can press the top button but only the bottom soft keys light up and the screen remains dark and unresponsive to touch. I have to pull the battery ala TP2 to get it to reboot. The reboot also takes quite a while. I have uninstalled everything I have installed since I rooted this at the first of the year. However this is really just a two or three day old problem. I used the phone extensively in the first three days after a painless successful root with no issues.

I searched but couldnt find anyone else in my shoes so far, any insight?

Thanks!

I remember helping you get rooted but don't remember where you are at.
As a general rule, I would recommend you getting back to basics. First install a very stable Rooted Rom such as Sprint Lover's. If the problem persists, install the 3.7/190 RUU from HTC. You will lose root but you need to find stable ground. At this point, being unrootet is not a bad place to be since if the problem exists, you are probably on your way to the Sprint store.

Thanks for the help so far guys.
Ok, as for being rooted I am, only to be able to use WIFI Tether and AdFree.

I am on the stock rom and used Unrevoked3 to root.

I noticed I am have DB problems also using Mybackup root. Possibly an SD issue?

Pull the SDCard and reboot and run for awhile and see if the problem persists. If it goes away, back-up your card and reformat it. There is a chance that the phone is accessing the card and getting hung up.

The things that cause a phone to "hang" or any program for that matter are a bad written app. It is amazing how many endless loops find themselves into the world. Access violations where a program steps into memory it does not own. Tasks that lack proper timeouts. Timeouts are defensive code to abandon a task when the desired resutls are not being accomplished. Task lock concurrency (thread lock). "I will meet you at the corner but if I get there first, I will mark an X on the sidewalk. If you get here first, be sure to erase my X".
And of course, it could be degrading hardward but it is usually logic.

My thoughts EXACTLY, that was my next line of thought as I wiped my SD card and checked on this thread.

I am currently backing up my phone on the card, so far successfully. After that I am going to see if the problem exists. I understand what you mean about tasks, and processes causing things to go haywire, lets hope this SD wipe cleared things up.

It is your sd card...
Reformatting the sd card will not help. Your sd card is basically failing and the only way to fix this is to get a new sd card.

Quick question for you....did you have google sky installed to your sd card? If yes, I am pretty sure that is the problem.

If yes....do not install it to your new sd card...it will do the same to the new one. Only reason I am saying this is because I think that is what happened to mine.

O have run Google Sky since I had my phone and never had a problem.

If Google sky was the problem but how does GoogleSky physically damage a card!?

Reformat the card and reinstall.

Did you move it to the sd card though?
And the sd card is not physically damaged. I believe the card is just malfunctioning.

I have no idea how it messes it up...but I am pretty sure that is what messed up my sd card.

He can try reformatting...but trust me the problem is going to come back within the week.

The problem with this is...the sd card will load up fine when you reboot the phone. But when you keep the phone on (as in, when you dont turn it off) the problem will arise within a day or two. And it keeps happening more frequently.

I'm waiting for the OP to respond because I'm pretty sure this is what happened and is happening.

If the reformat works...well hey...you dont have to buy another sd card lol

I'm 100% sure it is not a ROM problem or a phone problem.
