Re: New Kernel/Superior Battery Life

Funny how there are probably hundreds, if not thousands using the SBC kernels and all of a sudden, a crises pops up. Hmmmmm

Re: New Kernel/Superior Battery Life

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Mine doesn't even get that hot. The highest temp I've seen is 36C while I was at my grandparent's house earlier. They have a metal roof which all but kills my signal, meaning my Evo is switching between 3G, 2G, and roaming often while I'm there.

Other than that, my battery is fine. To those who say trickle charging is the problem, it's not. Trickle charging is actually one of the many battery charging techniques we use at my Sprint location. A battery that seems "bad" can be trickle charged back into life.

That doesn't mean it's not bad for the battery.

So, if chemotherapy cures your cancer, are you going to irradiate yourself nightly even after the problem is gone? no. You know why? That shit will give you cancer.

Argument not valid.

The problems that arise with trickle charging are long term.

Re: New Kernel/Superior Battery Life

Hey guys,

Just an FYI. I have installed and tried 9 kernels over the weekend and this one I found to be the best.

I am currently using Azrael 3.1, Setcpu @ 1152, JD, and the circle battery mod on hardware version 0004 (just got the phone about a month ago).

I tried
-netarchy toastmod 4.1.9.1 cfs havs universal signed
-netarchy toastmod 4.3 cfs havs more sbc universal signed
-netarchy toastmod 4.2.1 bfs bfq havs more smartass universal signed
-netarchy toastmod 4.2.1 cfs bfq havs less smartass universal signed
-netarchy toastmod 4.2.1 cfs bfq havs more smartass universal signed
-netarchy toastmod 4.3 cfs havs less sbc universal signed
-kingxkernel evo 11-2.6.32.24 flashable
-netarchy toastmod 4.1.9.1 cfs- havs universal signed

An the winner is :

-netarchy toastmod 4.2.1 cfs bfq havs less smartass universal signed

All the kernels averages about 400mA when the screen was on and idling and when running programs.

When I used "netarchy toastmod 4.2.1 cfs bfq havs less smartass universal signed" the rom was chilling. I averaged about 100-200mA. My phone was not draining battery life.

This is just a FYI but if anyone tries the kernel, please let me know if you experience the same thing.

That is an utterly inane analogy. We are not talking organc chemistry.

But the claim was that your battery would overheat and cook itself. The original 'chikin little' posted picutes of his phone body with discoloration. What is strange is that he failed to post a picture of the battery itself which should have faired much worse than the phone. If over-heating was the issue, we should have had a 3 alarm fire by now.

I am not buying the arguement. The reason for cyclical charges were due to stratification which does not happen in LiOn or LiPo batteries. LiPo batteries in particular want to stay charged.

But sometimes, there are other reasons for these alarms. So of the reasons stray from techno issues and cross into ennolvative envy. Just saying...

Thanks for the analysis. Dumb question but does anyone know a place where I can find out what all these acronyms mean? CFS? bfq? havs? I want to try more kernals but always have trouble deciding which one.

Re: New Kernel/Superior Battery Life

I just flashed one of the kernals the op listed on the xda site. SBC for netarch's 4.2.2 more aggressive was the one I tried. My thinking was I wanted to try the sperior battery life plus play around with setcpu. After I flashed it my camera didn't work and im not 100% positive but 4g seems slower. I'm gonna flash back to stock or sbc htc 15.
