To buy HTC EVO or not?

I need some advice I am thinking of purchasing a HTC EVO this week, but I am having doubts right now I have a HTC Pro touch 2 unlocked and running EneryRom and I have 1250 Sero account. I know if I do purchase a HTC EVO I will defentialy Root the phone thats a given; my only problem is the phone is $200 dollars a bit steep. I have friends tell me to wait until the holidays are over because their might be a price reduction on this phone for users wanting to upgrade. Can anyone please give me some advice on this small dilemma . Thx

I don't know, for what it does 200 dollars isnt bad. You know you have a TP2, how much did that cost? I was in the same boat and dwelled on it for weeks, once i got my hands on it I dwelled on why i waited so damn long. Just get in your car and go get one right now. Then come back and let us know much the phone rocks and how small, brickish, and underpowered the tp2 is in comparison

Re: To buy HTC EVO or not?

Yeah the touch pro 2 was because the touch pro 1 over heated so much they just replaced it with a touch pro 2 for free. Yeah I have friends who have verizon droid and other android phone and they love it. What do you like about it personally are their any special apps that help you day to day?

Re: To buy HTC EVO or not?

I had a TP2 also and was worried about switching to Android after having 6 different windows phones. I look back on my TP2 and think ancient. The Evo and android are leaps and bounds better. Don't think about the $200 purchase cost, because you can put your TP2 up for sale on Ebay and get that much for it so its a wash. I sold my TP2 on a Buy it now for $200 so the Evo was free.

If I were you I would wait. Beginning of next year new phones will be out. Like the new windows 7 htc pro 7 and the next evo shift phone. I wouldn't want to sign a 2 year contract now. If you really want a new phone I would buy the evo on ebay or craigslist and don't sign a new 2 year contract. Only reason I signed my contract is cause premier account members can get a new phone once a year.

Re: To buy HTC EVO or not?

Get the EVO and don't look back. I think most of us here came from the TP2 and the EVO is by far better than the TP2. I know HBOOT 2.10 can be rooted but I'd hurry up and get out to Sprint, Best Buy, etc and get one with HBOOT 2.02 (if you can).

It takes a bit to get used to a virtual keyboard versus the physical keyboard on the TP2 but the rest of the features of the EVO out-weigh that.

Once you get it rooted, it is so much fun from there with custom ROMs.

I know there was a thread around here saying you could get the EVO for around $100... but I don't know all the stipulations or how it would work with your SERO plan.

Good luck!

Determine your personal computer needs and purchase accordingly. Don't worry so much about the cost. If you use, then it was a good purchase. Don't rush to root your phone. I waited six months to make sure that I got everything I could out of an unrooted Evo.

Re: To buy HTC EVO or not?

I also had the TP2. The EVO is a ton faster in every way. If you think the web browser on the TP2 is great, then wait till you t take the EVO's web browser for a test drive! Waaaay better web browsing experience on the HTC EVO! I'll put it this way... my laptop now is a dust collector.

Watch for sale adds during the holidays. Buy from Best Buy because there are no upfront rebates to pay. You can't go wrong buying an EVO now or waiting till the beginning of next year to see what new devices are released.

I recommend doing your homework on Android and Windows Phone 7 OS's and decide which is best for you. Do this before purchasing a new phone. If you are a physical qwerty user and that's an important feature for you, then you might want to wait for the new phones to be released next year. Although they will have slightly smaller 4" screens. After using my EVO for a few months, I can honestly say that I would not go to a smaller screen phone... period. The EVO is the perfect size phone and those that say its too big are simply jealous. They would be rockin' an EVO if they could with no whining about the screen size... those that have an EVO know so well that its NOT too big, but the perfect size. EVO is KING! I'm on my EVO right now! You can also keep your sero plan but you probably know this already.
