I got notice to the upgrade today but am not leaping. I am rooted on Azrael and am not giving that up lightly. But on the same note, I have been getting suspicious of these updates. It appears Sprint really does not want us rooting our phones and is getting aggressive. The issue is probably tethering and bandwidth usage. They want PAID for that feature. It is not just geeks that are rooting. People come in here, make three posts.
1. How to I get rooted?
2. How do I set up tether?
3. How do I install a custom ROM
Then they are never heard from again until a new Upgrade.

I would not be surprised if Sprint has already installed a beacon on our phones to flag who is rooted. Looking out recovery is pretty brutal. I think things are going to get uglier before they get prettier.

Ikillen i think you hit it on the head!...sprint is getting cheated out their money, of course like any other business they going to eventually catch up and put a end to the "free ride" so I bet that when Gingerbread gets released its going to be SUPER hard to root it, they planned on making money of this hotspot feature and they going to do anything to make everybody pay to use it. Watch and see

I downloaded the RUU but I will not install it until I hear that someone has successfully rooted it. Everybody knoows something but no one has come forward and said, "I am on 3.7 and I did this and that and am now rooted."

I always keep a stock RUU on my PC incase I need to get unrooted in a hurry. Also, no one has jumped up and said, "this thing screams after installing 3.7". I can wait.

Btw evo version 003 from my understanding this update is for phones made before august of this year but dont hold me to that its just what i heard from sprint......

Did you flash back to a stock recovery first, before updating? Unrevoked users are having no problems reacquiring root after the 3.70.651 update..
