Help: Phone wont boot and stuck on HTC screen

Hello, when I power up the phone it just gets stuck at the white "HTC EVO 4G" screen. The phone is not rooted or has ever had an attempt at being rooted. When holding down VOL UP + POWER, it displays the following:

and in the SD card there are no .zip files any where. Please help me, I am not trying to root the phone I just want it to be all stock from the store. Thanks

Go to Menu, Settings, System Updates and run the HTC software update. After that, update the rest. You are a ways behind the rest of the planet.

I can't get into those menus because the phone does not boot up. Its stuck at the HTC EVO 4G screen after you press the power button.

I took the battery out many times. Can anyone help me on how to try and do a full reset stock? I already cleared all cache and did clear storage. I believe I need the zip files so bootloader can flash? Help please

Can you get to the point where you can mount the phone to a PC and see it?

Problem solved! I installed HTC sync, downloaded latest RUU, and ran it in fastboot-USB. Thanks all for help and "okolowicz" from xda! Mods please close thread.

hello all
I have just purchased a stuck on htc screen Htc evo. and attempted to update via fastboot usb. it will start the process but when it gets to bootloader the phone turns off and then i get a error 171 (usb connection error. This evo has the following:

the phone sometimes will boot completely but it will reboot within 2 minutes. any help would greatly be appreciated.
