Rooting My Evo

Hey guys I'm new to the forums and I was wondering if you guys could help me out with rooting my phone. I've bee n searching everywhere but couldn't find a way to do it. I just got my phone as a replacement and this the software information..

Android version: 2.2
Baseband version: 2.15.00.09.01
Kernel version: 2.6.32.15-ge2fb08e
Build number: 3.29.651.5
Software number: 3.29.651.5
Browser version: WebKit 3.1
PRI version: 1.71_003
PRL version: 60670

I have already tried using unrevoked3.21 on my MAC but it did work because I kept getting "Validation Error: Backup CID Missing"

This is why I have come here in hopes of getting a solution..At this point I really dont care if I use a one click solution or not as long as I am able to get a step by step instructions to do it..

Thank You in advance

Hi, I also have a question about rooting. I just got a brand new evo yesterday with the 003 hardware, hboot 2.02, and 3.30 Software. I know on XDA they already rooted with this [TOOL][ROOT][GUIDE] HBoot 2.02 S-OFF - Updated 11/18/10 - xda-developers. But I'm new to rooting and have been reading a lot lately to learn before trying to do it. One thing I dont quite get, to type those command prompts, do I need to install anything like ADB (android SDK or something else) or just need to download that folder and put it on C: and those commands will work?

I'm talking about commands like this...this is the step 3 of that XDA thread solution

Quote:
adb push root/unrevoked-forever.zip /sdcard/
adb push root/mtd-eng.img /sdcard/
adb push pc36img/PC36IMG-ENG.zip /sdcard/PC36IMG.zip
adb push pc36img/PC36IMG-ROOT-MR.zip /sdcard/PC36IMG-MR.zip
adb push root/flash_image /data/local/
adb push root/rageagainstthecage /data/local/tmp

Unrevoked is the easiest and fastest way to do. Just read the wiki and start there. * MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE HBOOT DRIVERS ON YOU PC!

Itis the easiest and fastest method, but it does not work on Software 3.30 / HBoot 2.02 yet. So that other method is the only way it can be done on my Evo at the moment.
