But I'm new to rooting and have been reading a lot lately to learn before trying to do it. One thing I dont quite get, to type those command prompts, do I need to install anything like ADB (android SDK or something else) or just need to download that folder and put it on C: and those commands will work?

I'm talking about commands like this...this is the step 3 of that XDA thread solution

adb push root/unrevoked-forever.zip /sdcard/
adb push root/mtd-eng.img /sdcard/
adb push pc36img/PC36IMG-ENG.zip /sdcard/PC36IMG.zip
adb push pc36img/PC36IMG-ROOT-MR.zip /sdcard/PC36IMG-MR.zip
adb push root/flash_image /data/local/
adb push root/rageagainstthecage /data/local/tmp
Unrevoked is the easiest and fastest way to do. Just read the wiki and start there. * MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE HBOOT DRIVERS ON YOU PC!
