About to pay $50 more a month for an EVO... any regrets from switching from WM?

4) Has it changed your life the way an iPhone change some people's? Just wondering since each WM phone I upgraded too seemed to have just marginal improvements....

5) I have 3 email accounts (work, personal, school)... any problems switching from outlook to the native email client?

Before you switch, it sounds like you have a F&F 500 plan, if you do it's aka SERO. As of October 1st 2010; Check if you are eligible for $40 SERO Premium 500 plan. If so, you might want to consider that over $69.99 ED450. Even the EPRP 500 plan is only $59.99. Plus $10 premium data to which ever you chose.

Once you change out of SERO, you can NEVER get back on it.

All your addons/perks are compatible with the NEW SERO, except the corp. discount, which they will remove.

EDIT: Make 100 % sure BEFORE they make any changes that everything on your current plan will transfer over and is compatible... I lost my 5pm N&W because the rep took it out and it CAN NOT be added back on again, since that SOC code is gone from the system...

I was on a F&F plan with 3 phones and I was only paying about $60 a month and now that I had to move one line over to get the Evo, I'm now paying $110. I don't know if its worth it paying $50 more. I can do a little bit more now than what I can do with my TP2. I have no crashes nor do I have to worry about having too many apps open or phone slowing down. I got used to it on the TP2 and I was ok with it. But I'm the type who needs to have the latest and greatest. I think it's worth it till I see the bill. But to answer your questions...

1. I think someone already answered this.

2. Igo8 was sometimes a PITA since it doesnt do TTS 99% of the time. I started using Bing and it was great on the TP2. Google maps is also good on the Evo and most of the time I have service so really doesn't matter whether I can save maps locally or not. Google map loads faster and maps are always up to date.

3. At first I thought the phone was HUGE! It is thinner than a TP2 so it made it ok. But it only took me a few weeks before I got used to it and now I love the size. When I hold my TP2 I think its too small and thick now. If you really think about it...your only option is Evo or Epic and they are pretty much the same size.

4. It hasn't changed my life. I was able to do as much with the TP2. It is nice to have more apps available for android though. What I do like is I don't worry about freezes, slow downs or worry about how many app I have open.

5. With the mail app, it's not as easy as swiping left to right to get to other email accounts. You a have a drop down. They have their up and downs on both sides but really you wont be disappointed with androids email app.

I think here is what you should do which is what I did. Sprint gives you 30 days when you sign up for a new account/line. If you're not satisfied, you can cancel service, return the phone and you get EVERYTHING back. That's what I did. Signed up for a new line and played with the phone for 29 days. I then decided I wanted to move to android. I cancelled that line and got everything back down to the last penny. Then moved one of my lines over and got the Evo. You can ask and ask on the forums but the only way to really answer your question is to try the phone out for yourself.

Value is a personal thing but even though I really had a good time spending endless nights hacking my TP2 to make it function exactly the way I wanted it to, it's good to see what resources can afford me: less headaches & more sleep.

I would think the only one is you save on the $35 restocking fee for upgraded lines returns.

My 2 cents:

* I had an all WMA library as well - At the time I switched to the EVO in June I found no great WMA player, so I mass changed all the WMA files to MP3 - with a free trial of a WMA to MP3 converter...Did a batch setup overnight and done. I am not saying you have to, it was just what I did.

*It works great - and the added plus of not tying up SD card space. BUT...I have run into times now when I have been in the SC/NC mountains without signal and not had routing....had to go back to the paper maps . Now you can make a route and drive through any no-signal area and it will be fine - BUT if you are in a no-signal area and want to make a new route - you are S.O.L. As such I have added Mydrive to my unit just in case - but will only use it when I have no signal and want to make a route.

* Compared to your TP2? - No. - granted I use seido clip holsters to my belt.

* - Yes. I have been a WM fanboy since ~ 2000..using PDA's and then switching to WM phones with a sero plan (500/$30). (iPAQ 3600, Toshiba E740, iPaq 4700, 6700, Touch, Touch Pro, Touch Pro 2) I thought I would never switch. Then Windows 7 Mobile info started coming out with all the new limitations (no sd cards, cut and paste...etc...) and I started looking beyond. In my case it meshed well with a decision to go from 2 Sero plans and the need to add my 2 kids and carry 4 lines....I was able to dump/transfer my Sero plans and jumped on the family plan. With a 15% empoyee discount it works out to about $35 per phone...not counting the EVO extra fee of $10.

*The single best thing about Android for me over the TP2 was the Pinch to zoom....it has made web browsing something I will do casually rather than something I would only do as necessary on the TP2. The EVO is also MUCH snappier - perhaps a hair under what an iPhone does, but the EVO can do so much more.

*I had gotten extended batteries on all my WM phones - except the TP2...it was the only one that would basically last me a day between charges. With the EVO I must say the battery lasts the least of all phones I have ever owned, but I would not trade it or lose any features to make it last longer.....Instead a cheap ebay 3500ma battery for $13 keeps me going most of the day now.

5) I have 3 email accounts (work, personal, school)... any problems switching from outlook to the native email client?

*This should be mostly transparent - with the exception of HTML email.....Android actually shows most HTML email fairly well, something I never saw on the TP2.

There's no other advantages that I can think of besides what you mentioned.
